A-Rod: The next Canseco?

A-Rod is shopping a book.

Considering that he might spill about drugs, should we call it a piss-and-tell?

Lugnut Alert, from LoHud Yankees:

Yankees signed lefty Thornton for two years

As if you had any reason to doubt it, I just confirmed Jack Curry’s report: The Yankees have in fact signed lefty Matt Thornton to a two-year deal worth $7 million.

Thornton had some extremely good years with the White Sox, but as he’s aged he’s become more of a typical lefty and not so much of a late-inning setup man and occasionally closer. He’s the Yankees first significant bullpen signing of the winter, and he should essentially replace Boone Logan, who just landed with the Rockies for three years, $16.5 million.

Also, the Roberts acquisition is a great idea. I read it in the comments on espn.com, so it must be--I mean, the guy is an Agency of Transportation technician in Vermont! Right on!

Good signing by the Evil Empire... high quality person with, steady in the field, can run the bases, and is capable with a bat. All that being said, if he is a bust and can't stay healthy, it wasn't much of a gamble. Could prove to be a great signing.

Holy cow! Cashman is on a roll...and this is after getting Roberts...from River Ave Blues:

Via Joel Sherman: The Yankees have expressed interest in free agent utility man Jeff Baker. Baker, 32, hit .279/.360/.545 (143 wRC+) with eleven homers in only 175 plate appearances for the Rangers last season while missing more than a month with a thumb sprain suffered during a high-five.

Let me repeat that one:
