Blingee is ending. The beloved photo-ruining service was known for giving the world, among other treasures, the only known photo of Alphonso's soul.
A few more memories after the jump.
UPDATE: Blingee lives! Whew! Thanks for the heads up, Anonymous!
And particularly relevant this evening:
Rest In Peace. (via Metafilter)

I'd like to take this opportunity to ask about the meaning of all the little doo-dads pasted over the Blingee picture:
- I am guessing that the piles of money on fire are meant to insinuate that Alphonso has money to burn.
- I'm also guessing that the bottle of JD indicates a certain fondness for a good drink.
- I always assumed that the askew Kangol hat (not as askew as Pineda's) and the sparkles in his glasses were just a goof.
- However, what's the meaning of the beating heart? Was this just a throw-in? Or does it mean something?
Yours very curiously,
LBJ
LBJ, the money is meant to represent the Yankees' money. The beating heart is Alphonso's love for the Yankees.
And while Alphonso does indeed appreciate a good drink, I doubt he'd count JD in that category. Inexplicably, Blingee offered no Crown Royal stamps.

No doubt this is related to why they're shutting down.
Thanks for the explanation. Now I'm oriented.
I never thought I'd see a world without Blingee.
Fear not, duque. Blingee has been saved.
