The Trade Bombed.....seek back-up catchers

The deal for Cooper is a bust.

If you watched the game, his inability to hit at this level is as clear as incompetent and embarrassing leadership in the Oval Office.

Greg Bird is a bad, recurring dream for any functioning schizophrenic.  A nice young man who, in reality, is a medical aberration.  Greg is done and gone.  Get used to it.

The worst part is that his curse regenerates.  New Yankees brought in to play the position are going to be plagued by the shadow of Greg Bird's physical failures.

The best looking player over there this season has been Austin Romine, and he has a proven ability to contribute with the bat in the major leagues.  So what we need is a back-up catcher of repute.  I am sure some Molina brother could be co-erced to put on the pin stripes, and walk away from his barbecue.  Hell, we might as well trade Torres or Kaprelian, because they are unlikely to be healthy again anyway.

Or, you can throw in Tyler Wade.  If we aren't going to play him, why have him?  Or Frazier....the Manager sits him down for one of the Jacoby/Gardner twins after he gets red hot, anyway.  If we are committed to play, " those individuals to whom we are paying the most money," we need not keep the young guys on the team.

And for the capper;  I warned this audience that El Chappo would never again be what he once
was ( are any of us?).  When he sat down for a month due to an unnamed malady, the signal went out that " something has changed."  We saw that last night.  A closer who cannot close.  An aluminum siding salesman who cannot cut it, and should not have access to quality leads.  This guy stabbed his teammates in the back.  Who wants to labor and fight, when he is looming?

The Yankee ship is captained by a pinstriped version of the unbalanced, " Queeg."  And that is showing.

That is not a confidence builder when the holds are flooding.

The most idiotic statement from someone who is not a member of the Trump Family so far this year:

“I wasn’t as sharp as I would like to be,” Chapman said through an interpreter. “They hit the ball a couple of times in that inning. My control wasn't there tonight, so it just got complicated in that inning.”

D’uh?

Maybe he should be required to learn to speak English (as should all Yankees, for Christ’s sake), and the maybe… maybe someone can then teach him some basics about the game called baseball.

I tuned in late in the 6th, when it was 4-3 with the Yankees winning and had a faint glimmer of hope until Delicate Betances came on. I know then that we would lose solely because of Betances or Chapman or some demonic combination of their combined, utter lack of control, talent, and basic comprehension.

Obviously there's a reason why he had never played in the Majors until last night...he stinks

ONCE AGAIN......GIRARDI MAKES IT EASY TO POINT A FINGER IN HIS DIRECTION.

WHEN THE LINEUP WAS POSTED, I WAS ONCE AGAIN STUNNED.

WHY WASN'T CLINT FRAZIER IN THE LINEUP?

WE WERE FACING A LEFTY LAST NIGHT, (AND 3 LEFTIES THIS SERIES) AND IT'S FENWAY PARK!

OH, I GUESS HE NEEDED THE REST? (AFTER THE ALL STAR BREAK).

OH, THAT'S RIGHT, HE'S A HOT HITTER....

THIS TEAM HAS NOT BEEN SCORING UNLESS IT'S A HOME RUN, (FRAZIER CAN HIT HOME RUNS)!

IT AIN'T HAPPENING, BUT I HAVE THE SAME FEELING I HAD WHEN TORRE WAS ON HIS WAY OUT

IT'S TIME.

Will we ever even know what John's HR call for Cooper would be?

Cooper is super! Garrett didn't spare it!

Blasphemy!

Let us now say that the Juju gods are just and wise in all things.

Our budding young stars have been injured so that Cashman would not trade them away in some misguided effort to win the notorious Second Wild Card Spot.

Our old junk has been injured or has melted down so that Cashman will see that he should not pile up more of it in some misguided effort to win the notorious Second Wild Card Spot, but haul it off to the scrap heap, where it belongs.

Or to quote the prophet, Mickey Rivers, "I don't worry about the things I can control, because I can control them. I don't worry about the things I can't control, because I got no control over them."

Is this perfectly clear?

I can see clearly now, Horace. Thank you!

HoraceClarke, I agree with you on all points.

Romine at first base? He's one of the worst hitters in the league, much worse than Headley or Ellsbury.
And what's up with Sanchez? He fails to catch more pitches than any other catcher I've seen since Smokey Burgess.

Very obvious to this observer that Cooper has never seen major league pitching.

I'll give Coop time. Trade Chapman, if you can. He's unstable, there's something wrong with the guy. Ship him away. Betances, thank God, seems to be coming around. But he should be on trade notice if he regresses...not that anyone will want him if he does, again.

Holliday came through. Fuck you, virus.

Judge is not going through a good streak.

And how about that play by Castro in the bottom of the 8th here? Holy moley.

JM said...

Hell, even Ty was the guy today. Castro and Holly back. The pitchers coming around. Sevvy was awesome.

It ain't over til it's over.

Leinstery said...

Headley, Didi, And Choi. Great job assholes. Does anyone on this team understand you don't have to swing at every fucking pitch thrown? All Holliday's homerun did was ensure another inning is milked out of the bullpen, because they sure as shit ain't winning.

ranger_lp said...

Another HR call could be..."That ball has flown the Coop!"

JM said...

If we lose, this is another one I'll pin on Binder Boy. Lousy bullpen management here.

Leinstery said...

Oh boy, so many extra innings. This is worse than I initially imagined. When they lose, we'll all be wishing Holliday didn't hit that homerun.

joe de pastry said...

Never thought I would say this, but I think it's time to bring back Brigadoon Refsnyder.
Can't be any worse than what we've got.

Ben Heller.

JM said...

Wtf? Headley to bunt? He can't bunt. Man, they're lucky.

Austria's Only Baseball Fan said...

Somewhat ironic: in 16 innings Judge walks twice and strikes out - what? - three times? And the winning runs are scored by Ellsbury (which began with his double) and Headley. Ya never know...
