A Surprising Statistic?

At this point in the 2023 season, Volpe has hit one fewer home run than Stanton.

Maybe we should pay him $30 million a year.

Just a thought.

A quote from Brian Cashman:

“Hopefully we got a little bit better with Middleton, hopefully we can get better from within and hopefully we didn’t get worse by making a bad decision.”

Too much hope there when you use hopefully three times in a sentence...

Hopefully you get fired Brian...and hopefully Boone gets fired...and hopefully Hal sells the team..

I can do that too...

Little Tony plays ever day. He sure as fuck deserves a raise over league minimum.

This is a block quote from Keefe To The City. Keefe has been mentioned by the Commentariat before, but he should be read everyday. And we should get Keefe to guest blog. And possibly raise our offspring. For generations to come.

"10. The Yankees are now two games behind the Red Sox, who also don’t hold a playoff spot, and a 1/2-game behind the Angels. The Yankees have the same record (55-52) as the Mariners, who sold at yesterday’s deadline, while the Yankees stood pat.

“We know that we have better baseball in us,” Cashman said yesterday, “although, we haven’t shown that and proven that.”

I don’t know that the Yankees have better baseball in them. Since July 3 of last season, they are 99-100. They have been a below-.500 team for the equivalent of a full season and then 23 percent of another season. Why should Yankees fans think the remaining 55 games of this season will be different? They shouldn’t."

I hope that was fair use and wasn't too long to quote

Take a look at the name of the second guy we picked up: Spencer Howard. And the first guy, Keynan Middleton. Wonderful sounding names. Like straight out of a vintage western movie from the 1950's. Too bad Shane Spencer ain't around anymore. Anyone out there in MLB or in the minors named "Willie Dixon", "Dirk Larson", "Logan Keifer", "Jesse Kilpatrick", "Sonny Boy Williamson", "Jake Sheridan", "Henry Clayton Taylor", "John Dillinger", "Pretty Boy Floyd". Anyone with an interesting, colorful, badass, western sounding name is fair game for Brian "Choo Choo" Cashman.

The Keefe must have an old soul to be so much like us.

Don't tell HIM though, he may harm himself if he thinks we are his future.

And we already have a classic here: Arch Stanton. And he won't be leaving until the coming of the Apocalypse.

The apocalypse is already upon us and Stanton has not be raptured.

Most likely, neither will we.

I will not be raptured. The angels will sprain their wings if they try to carry my enlarging bulk to heaven.

It won't help that I'll be directing them to take my wine cellars with us.
