No time for the old in and out now, love, the Yankees game is starting.

I'm AA and I do not approve the formatting of the Yarbrough text on some mobile browsers. Tried to fix it but could not (however the formatting is ACES on lap and desk top browsers)

Well played, Sir!

HoraceClarke66 said...

ALL RISE!

HoraceClarke66 said...

That was quick.

AA, there's been a bit of naaastiness, a bit of an extreme naastiness yesssss. Your name was mentioned along with some of your friends, yesss. Oh nothing can be proved oan anybody, as usual.... Time for some of the old Moloko plus, that'll sharpen you up for the old ballgame, yessss.

HoraceClarke66 said...

So I turn on the game, watch Bellinger fly out. Judge is up. I tell myself, I have time to walk into the next room and get a Coke Zero.

Nope. .434. They're saying that, among the Yankees, only Paul O'Neill has a higher average after 32 games (.473, in 1994, a year in which he remained above .400 until June 17th.

Perfection, Kevin

AboveAverage said...

It is incredible

JM said...

I missed it, too. Shut off the radio coverage because it's getting very close to dinnertime. So much for being polite.

HoraceClarke66 said...

In the "Nothing to See Here" category: Schmidt scratched from this afternoon's start because of "left side soreness"...and had an MRI last night. YES reports he expected to start today, but Boone wanted to "air on the side of caution" (as opposed to his usual airing on the side of stupidity), and that he will pitch on Tuesday.

Or, you know, next August.

BTR999 said...

Is it me or have the Yankees used a different lineup in every game this season? Why in the actual fuck i#cBellinger leading off?

AboveAverage said...

August 2026 I presume . . .

HoraceClarke66 said...

Judge with a single. 17 multi-hit games, 13-game hitting streak, up to .435. Incredible. Too bad no one else on the team can hit...

HoraceClarke66 said...

Can't complain about how well Goldschmidt is playing; great play in the field today. But if they had signed Alonso, who could have been had for a song—and who is only 30—then they would have the option to trade Rice or someone for a good pitcher.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Meant to say, too, that if they had signed Alonso, they would have had the Players of the Month in both leagues in their lineup. Bozos.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Oh, no. Leiter fils is warming up.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Amazing what a destructive entity Leiter Junior is. One pitch—ONE PITCH—and TB not only gets a runner on but Volpe is injured.

Not that great a loss—Volpe is a bad player, who Pal is utterly addicted to—but again, why is Leiter still on the damned team? Why is he pitching in the 8th? This guy just has a dark cloud over his head, like Joe Shlobotnick, or whoever that character was called in L'il Abner.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Two pitches—TWO PITCHES!—and TB has the tying run on second. It seems Leiter has a big leg kick and is slow to home. Perfect for a reliever.

HoraceClarke66 said...

A walk. TEN PITCHES...Here comes the big blast...

HoraceClarke66 said...

Double steal...

HoraceClarke66 said...

Bloop hit into left-center. Tie game.

JM said...

Leiter fluid.

JM said...

Why wasn't Blake out talking to Leiter to buy time for Weaver to warm up? What kind of amateur hour is this?

HoraceClarke66 said...

Double-play ball up the middle...which the un-replaced Volpe kicks.

And guess what? Boone is pulling Leiter!

JM said...

Volpe bobbles it. E6. Of course. That play was important.

Choke artist.

JM said...

Jesus, Boone is an idiot.

JM said...

Hill? What?

JM said...

Fucking moron.

JM said...

Bellinger! Nice

HoraceClarke66 said...

It's the usual amateur hour, JM. What was so bad about Williams in the 8th, Weaver in the 9th? Seemed to work yesterday. Or...anybody but Leiter?

Holy shit, but this is a badly run team. I long ago gave up on Cashie's Designated Jeter Replacement. But how about protecting your player, Manger Asshat, and taking him out when he gets hurt?

JM said...

Another game lost by our manager for life.

Hinkey Haines said...

I wasn’t watching but I got an alert that TB scored on an error & immediately assumed, since it’s late in a close game, it must have been by Volpe. I’m so utterly done expecting anything good from him.

JM said...

I've had it with Volpe, too. What a stupid organization.

BTR999 said...

LOL @ Reyes hitting in a clutch situation

JM said...

Reyes is the best choice to pinch hit? Fucking fuckhead Boone.

JM said...

Uh oh. Judge in a pressure situation. Not a good recipe.

JM said...

Annnddd, nada.

BTR999 said...

Of course he whiffed

JM said...

So it's not a save situation, meaning no Weaver.

Idiot.

BTR999 said...

He did hit the ball hard, but now the game effectively over.

JM said...

My apologies to Hill. Pretty nicely done.

AboveAverage said...

The Yankees lose…..

JM said...

Boone cuts out dollar-sized stacks of paper to make sure a million will fit in his suitcase, but doesn't realize he's only inheriting a parrot.

BTR999 said...

…aaaand the ball never even leaves the INF in the bottom of the ninth.

Outside of Judge, the lineup is completely limp-dicked.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Leo Durocher: "Never save a pitcher for tomorrow. Tomorrow, it might rain."

Leo was a thoroughgoing dick, but he knew exponentially more about baseball than Mgr. A.H.. Holy shit, that was stupid!...

HoraceClarke66 said...

...Once again, we're into the weird Yankees mindset where spring training really lasts until about August, and the important thing is NOT to steal games against bad team when you're not playing that well, but to just get everything lined up for the playoffs.

It's nonsense. Of course it should have been Williams, Weaver today. Which wouldn't guarantee anything, but at least would have been a sincere effort TO WIN THE GAME.

No, instead it's most important to get Leiter the Lesser "right." So, you know, he can continue on his 12-24, 4.48, 8 saves in 6 seasons record. Don't know what we'd do without Mark Leiter.

HoraceClarke66 said...

By the way, tomorrow...it's scheduled to rain. Or the Yanks will be up/down 8 runs by the third.

HoraceClarke66 said...

All right, gotta calm down. Sure, I lost all our savings on Leiter having a clean inning. But...I borrowed big from Bruno, down the street, with a heavy vig, and put it all on Rodriguez in the Derby. What could possibly go wrong? What?...Well, maybe Admire Daytona...
