Last night, the Yankees once again fell to their greatest, most antagonistic rivals: Themselves.

Like a civil war re-enactment, or a Marvel team-up, or a Lady Gaga marriage, or a silently shrinking glacier, the Yankees last night inched forward to their inevitable 2025 destiny.

We don't know what it will be. No one here is so cursed. But having seen both fire and ice, up close and personal, I think we all know exactly how The End will play out. Last night brought together all the ingredients...

a) A seemingly impregnable lead, with our ace on the mound. (Somewhere, Gerrit Cole was farting a small child.)

b) A catastrophic bullpen collapse, leading to a 3-2 pitch outside the strike zone, with the bases loaded. (Somewhere, Tyrese Haliburton was clutching his throat.)

c) The early lights-out bedtime of our batters after three innings. (Somewhere, Steph Curry was pressing his hands together in slumber tribute.)

Before last night, the last time we faced the Dodgers - the team that embodies what the Yankees used to be - we were undressed and humiliated in our home park. Now, thanks to last night, we did it again. We updated the file.

Well, it's just one game. So it goes, right? It is what it is. Tally ho, Bobs yer uncle. And if you want to rubberneck, Tampa lost last night, so we maintained our 7 game lead in the AL East. So, yeahp, there's that.

But we know what's coming. Like a 20-point lead in a Knicks game, whatever bulge we build in May, it could be gone by July.

Max Fried got raked. Nobody - not Loaisiga, not Hill, nobody - could stop them. We hit four HRs; didn't matter. One dreadful inning doomed us.

Sometime, somehow, this fall, the Yankees must beat their ultimate nemesis - themselves. Are they such a team?

The pitching collapsed. So much for the hot streak.

Will Will Warren fare any better?

To answer your question Duque, a simple no will be sufficient. At least until they prove otherwise.

What an epic fucking disaster. When you hit four homers, you expect to score more than five fucking runs. But that's what you get when you hit Judge #2. Power hitters at the top, singles hitters in the middle or bottom. You hit solo homers. Then someone singles, with nobody to drive him in. There's a very good reason Earl Weaver never said "5 runs on 4 HR = win".

And why the fuck was Ben Rice hitting #5 last night? What happened to Rice #1, Grisham #2, Judge #3? Don't ya love how the lineup changes every fucking game?

And why was The Martian sitting on the bench? There is zero reason to have him sit on the bench. Especially after the off day on Thursday. Somebody else has to sit. You want to develop someone who might make a difference come playoff time, you have to sacrifice what you think might be the best starting lineup. Gotta pay the dues if you wanna play the blues.

They still don't prioritize player development here. Stoopid, just stoopid.

For a number of years now, since maybe the Luke Voit and Big G Stanton era, I've been waiting for the Yankees to hit 9 solo homers in one game, and lose 10-9. That still could happen. Maybe even this year.

There ain't going to be any 1-0 wins against the fucking Dodgers, that's fuhr shure!

Whenever they play the Dodgers, it's the wonderful question of "who can put together the dumber lineup?" Shohei Ohtani, how many solo homers you think he's going to hit this year? Aaron Judge, how many solo homers? Hmmmmmmmmm. Just based on the curious fact that they have Ohtani hitting leadoff, I'd bet that Ohtani wins the solo homer derby.

If Aaron Boone was just as dumb as Dave Roberts, he'd have Judge hit leadoff. I saw another article by Keefe to the City recently, complaining about Judge hitting #3, instead of #2. Said they need to maximize his chances of coming up an extra time by batting Judge #2. Sorry, Keefer, but if you want to do that, Judge shouldn't hit #2. He should hit LEADOFF, like Ohtani. So that he hits more solo home runs!

And just to try to get Judge more base runners when he hits #1, why not put your three best hitters (other than Judge) as numbers 7, 8, & 9? Yup, that's right, your worst hitters can then hit numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6.

Gotta love these stoopid schmucks trying to re-invent the fucking wheel.

So last night, the Yankees got beat down like a fucking pinata. How bad will be the beatdown today? Maybe Aaron Boone (and his lineup guru upstairs) will read this blog and say "Judge hitting leadoff, hey that's a mighty bright idea! Dave Roberts is a fucking genius! We should do like he does."

Please tell me you mean thrown out of the organization.

A guy can hope. Can't he?

I hope Boone gets thrown out of this here universe, flushed down a black hole and into another universe far, far away.

The minute I saw Judge batting second, my heart dropped. Goldschmitt batting 4th? WTF??

Did Musk's AI program produce this lineup? Or did the Yankee brain trust actually let Boone make baseball decisions? It's so hard to tell the difference.
