How Is The Persuasion Going, Joe?

Was it only a week ago that Joe Girardi said he was going to talk with Mariano, and see if he could convince him to "do this again next season?"

Mariano had just won a four-out save ( perhaps his last, and final save of any type?), and Joe was certain the Yankees were poised and ready to make a run against the incoming Red Suxcks ( mis-spelling intentional ).

A lot has happened since then.  All of it bad.  Only the looming invasion of Syria can match it for negative vibes.

The Yankees have been undressed and revealed for the futureless team that they are.

Derek, and his management and managers, keep throwing him out there for no reason except to sell seats and jerseys.  It is clear to all that he is hurt, tired, and unable to play to his standard.  The standard of a future hall of fame player.  He can't hit, run, throw or walk.  But he wears " number 2" so Joe pencils him into the line-up.

The pitching has become laughable, led by the great one who is squeezing the last drops out of the bloody beet.

Can you imagine MO returning to a team where Chris Stewart is our biggest offensive threat, and we are counting on Chin Ming Wong to make a come-back as our ace?

MO did the right thing.  He recognized that this final season would require an exceptional effort.  He will have given it all.  To have achieved 40 saves at age 43, and with this withered and ineffective team, is monumental.

And Joe Girardi, like President O'Bama, thinks his words of persuasion can change reality?

Stay tuned;  the next 8 days are going to be disastrous.  In more ways than one, I fear.

Girardi is being an asshole, bringing this up in public. Go, Mo, and don't look back. You've given us plenty.
