Fifty games left... and tied.

Today, the Yankees could bypass Baltimore - dare we ask? - once and for all in 2024? A ridiculous thought, eh? What toad have I been licking?

Clearly, whatever happens today, the race for the AL East, like that of the presidency, will go down to the final, chaotic moments of 2024 - a year and - perhaps - a baseball season that we shall remember, happily or bitterly, for the rest of our lives.

Fifty games left. Down to the wire.

If you believe in destiny, the O's sport baseball's best ascending young catcher (Adley Rutschman) and shortstop (Gunner Henderson), plus its best prospect (Jackson Holliday.)

The Yankees have Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.

The O's have eight regulars with more than 10 HRs and seven with OPS totals higher than .740. (For both, Yanks 4.)

The Yankees have Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.

The O's have Corbin Burnes and Grayson Rodriguez, a combined 24-8 on the season.

The Yankees have Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.

Today, the Yankees play the worst team in the AL East, at home, with their best pitcher, throwing on extra rest. The O's face MLB's best team, in Cleveland.

I'm not suggesting that today is a make-or-break moment in the 2024 season. That would be insane. There's 50 left to play, including a three-game series against Baltimore in the Bronx, beginning Sept. 24.

But the Yankees have Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.

And today could be the day.

This reminds me of a joke attributed to Groucho:

When it's 20 degrees in New York, it's 70 in California.

When it's 90 degrees in New York, it's 70 in California.

In New York, he average IQ is 110. And it's 70 in California.

No offense meant, AA

None taken, JM.

I just don’t get it?

That's because I left off the t in "the," in the last line.

Changes the whole thing.

Going to the game today, courtesy of a friend. Anticipating many rain delays. I doubt if Cole will be able to get in more than 3-4 innings. But then, what's new?

Well played, AA!

Ohhhhhhhh - thank you, JM!

The T cleared up everything.

As clear as an unmuddied lake, sir. As clear as an azure sky of deepest summer.

Let’s all tag along with Hoss and watch Cole battle the rain drops !

Is it Mr. Prima Donna pitching today? HAHAHAHA! That's a loss. You can write it down, right now, in ink.

50 games remaining. Coming down to the stretch run. They'll probably have to win at least 32 of the 50 to get 1st place. Ain't going to happen. I would be shocked if they pulled it off.
(Although, to be fair, I thought they'd lose yesterday. Yesterday was amazing. Rodon didn't roll over and die.)

This one today will be a stinker. They'll prove once again that they can't beat A.L. East teams. Even the ones that have been gutted and have raised the white flag. So after today, they'll have to win 32 out of 49. Again, ain't going to happen. They might lose 32 out of the 49, maybe more.

20-25 wins out of 50 will get them a W/C

JM reminded me of the 1-800-MATTRES commercials. "and leave of the last S...that's the S for savings...."

At ease, fellas...

Good luck, Hoss. I'm staying the in the bunker.

I remember those commercials, Bit. True masterpieces of goofy schlock.

Come back, Tom Carvel.

Is today's game a night game? The times I see online are confusing. Thanks.
