Rocket told lawyers he was still considering a comback

It's in his 194-page, Feb. 5 deposition to the Congressional beagles. Yeesh.

"I hadn't decided whether I was going to play again. I keep -- but 99.9 percent -- let me say that again for the record -- until Joe Torre or somebody calls me again."

Yeesh.

This begs the question. How would a team of 40-somethings fare over the course of an entire MLB season? Potential players include: Clemens, Franco, Maddux, Glavine, Unit, Smoltz, Jeff Kent (just days from eligibility), Frank Thomas (just months away) Vizquel, El Duque (the pitcher, not the blogger), Alou, Timlin, Wakefield, Bloggo/Katsup, Giambi (age exemption), Mussina (ditto), Stanton, Flash Gordon, Hoffman, Moyer, etc.

Would they win 81 games? What would plane rides be like? Would the groupies say things like, "I don't mind Ben Gay, if that's what you're into..."? Would there be a roster spot for Bonds? (OF is thin, we could always put Giambi in center as he's one of the younger guys.)
