It's time to start thinking of Halladay

The Prince of New York (right) lays it out, from the perspective of Canadians (which means he drank a six-pack first.) Here's what he says:

The economy and reality of the Blue Jays situation----on and off the field----will lead them to take offers for Roy Halladay:

The signs are there for all to see. They're resigned to losing A.J. Burnett to free agency; their owner, the respected Ted Rogers, just died; they've slashed 30+ jobs; they're in a division with the perennial bullyboys the Red Sox and Yankees, along with a very young Rays team; two of baseball's top young starters are either out for the year (Shaun Marcum), or questionable to start the season (Dustin McGowan); they're just not any better than a third place team even with Burnett and Halladay.

Logically, with Halladay set for free agency after the 2010 season and owed $30 million for 2009 and 2010, how much of a difference is he going to make to the team one way or the other? With him, they win 83-86 games; without him they win 68-75 games; even at the high-end, if everything goes right and they get McGowan back early and Jesse Litsch pitches well, they're not going to come close to a playoff spot; so they're better off dealing from strength and racking up a huge package for Halladay than perpetrating the folly of trying to contend when they know they can't.

Hmmm. You know what I think? I think CC Sabathia isn't half the pitcher Roy Halladay is.

And I would hate it hate it goddamm hate it if we ended up with Sabathia and the Redsocks landed Halladay.

Hmmm.
Maybe we should all drink six-packs to fortify our jib and further infiltrate the Canadian mind.

I would donate a kidney to get Halladay. But I would throw in the other kidney to keep him away from Boston.

I'll give a toe.

Alphonso, how about that club foot of yours?

Whitey, wanna throw in your hairlip?

Mons Meg, turn in those silicone injections. You weren't using them.

We can do this.

Had J.P. Ricciardi polished off a six-pack before trading for Scott Rolen and signing Vernon Wells to that contract? It would explain some stuff.
I think Halladay's a better pitcher than Sabathia as well.

Short of sending Cano, Hughes, Joba and Ajax, I don't think there is any way in HELL that (even drunken) JP Riccardi sends Halladay anywhere in the AL, much less the AL East.

I'm on board though... I have some parts of my body inflicted with elephantitis I could donate.

I'll trade Hank, Hal and Cash for Roy Halladay. He's much much much much much much muchmuch much much better than Sabathia.

Might as well get them both, eh?
