Is This a Tea Party or Baseball?

Do we have one Yankee pitcher who has moxie?

The team cannot allow Vlad Jr. to do to the Yankees what he has been doing.

In baseball, there is a price attached to strutting around the bases, with a huge smile and a finger to the crowd ( he pretends it is a finger for silence, but we know better ).

What would Bob Gibson do?

What would Sal ( The " Barber" ) Maglie do?

It is time to put Vlad on his ass.  To make him remember that there is a price for digging in and getting comfy at the plate.  There is a price for taunting and arrogance.

I don't care if it starts a riot.  That may be what this lethargic bunch needs.

The Yankees are not only losers here, they are cowards.  They are the ones whose leg the bully is peeing on in the schoolyard.

Vlad has to be on his back the next time he shows up.  Maybe every time.

Well, at least then he won’t be hitting homers off our pitching.

While I’m at it, let me pitch - a bitch: whatever happened to not letting the opposing team’s big hitter beat you? Pitch around him , the way they do to Judge, who unfortunately seems to have lost control of the strike zone.

Born, the answer is Yankee Stupidity. Under Genius Cashman, The Yankees are happy to fail.

At very least they could pitch him hard up and in to move his feet. He could have uncomfortable at bats without actually drilling him in the ear hole.

I'd have no problem with that. It'd be good ole country hardball. The pitcher has options. He can throw the beanball to the head. He can throw under the hands and into the batter's "kitchen". Or he can even throw at the batter's legs to make him move his feet. That would make any batter uncomfortable. Take away his foundation by making him think about having to get out of the way of a fastball down and in. Would make it much harder to dig in and swing for the fences.

But I give Vlad credit. He hit two terrible pitches for two run homers. One worse than the other. That's on our pitchers. German's gopher ball was somewhat more excusable. At least that was in the 1st inning and maybe he was still trying to figure out what his stuff and his command was like that day. Schmidt's gopher ball was unacceptable, 6th inning of a scoreless game with two outs and just one man on base. He can't be anywhere near the strike zone there. That would've been a good time for a mound visit, to remind Schmidt of what NOT to do.

Listening to The Master. Sonny Fuckface Grey on the hill for Minnesota. Not actually how The Master put it, but you know, poetic license.

Good point, 999. You don't get beat by the best. But we do. Constantly. And yes, throw at him. Remember the 2001 playoffs, when the Yanks' pitchers threw constantly at the feet of Ichiro to throw him off balance?

Ah, we miss you, Mel!

The YES booth is making history tonight with the first all bald announcing team.

There is no one in the park. That's sad. Aren't the Twins in first?

Also, Hicks is starting.

Sigh.

Doug K. said...

Uh oh... The booth is talking about Judge eventually playing to the back of his baseball card and reverting to the mean.

We're doomed.

I'm outta here but I just want to point out that Sonny Gray is pitching a one hitter and Joey Gallo just went deep.

Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside said...

Why did it have to be Gallo? We paid fir that homerun Mr Green!

I think we're starting to have a large enough sample size to say that Brito is not ready to pitch in the big leagues.

The only good note of the night is the Boston's Chris Sale got shelled again tonight.

Perhaps we (IIH folks) can stomach a rotten 65-97 season in order to shed Cashmonkey and a heck of a lot of deadwood.

TheWinWarblist said...

Joe FoB, we will have to stomach the swill they're running out there. Even if we explode in glorious open revolt, we will still have to stomach it.

Winnie, Id rather lose 11-to-9 then all of this low-scoring crap. But there is no chance. Our youngsters are not overwhelming, are they?

Cashole should be ashamed, but they will just blame it on injuries. Maybe Cole will demand a trade at the deadline and Hal will be forced to finally part ways with his idiot GM

Anyone here advocating throwing a 95-mph at someone's head--or anywhere else on his body--needs serious help. It's a game, guys. A sport. Are there any other issues over which you would advocate potentially homicidal activities? At one time Mustang was censoring people for not being delicate enough in their typed rejoinders. But advocating intentional physical injury or homicide passes muster. If you guys are so eager to see a high hard one go flying at someone's head just because he's an employee of another baseball franchise, then I'd like to see those same people willing to stand in the batter's box and take a little of their own medicine. I mean really--enough.

Another ghastly performance tonight. 5 singles, 1 double, 10k’s…shut down by the castoff Gray and a hr by gallo. Not sorry I missed most of it. I wouldn’t be able to stomach boone’s comments.

HoraceClarke66 said...

I missed all of it! Hooray! And plan to go on missing more and more. This sort of baseball just isn't worth the time or attention, not even as a pleasant summer drone in the background.

Gray and Gallo...say this about Brian Cashman, he doesn't embarass easy.

The Archangel said...

Well, glad I missed it too.
I was shaving my ears and nose hairs which was probably more thrilling than the game.
[No, I watched the Rangers debacle.]

As for the Yanks- I hear Stump Merrill laughing.

Also, yes somebody put Vlad on his ass.
Sign Mel Hall out of retirement to fight him.
Like a 5 games suspension of Calhoun or Franchy will make a difference.
The Yanks over overly passive starting from the top in the true sense of the word.

The only reason to actually watch them now is to see Nasty Nester pitch.
