Then or now? Which is better?

 Ten years ago.
Today.

According to the Yankee website, Judge has a mild hip strain but they are not yet decided on whether to IL him.

The smart thing would be to IL him now. He's been a slow healer in the past. That ain't going to change. Maybe he'll be back after two and a half or three weeks. If it was nothing but a boo-boo, I doubt he would've removed himself from the lineup. You could sense that there was something wrong in those two strikeouts against Andrew Heaney. Rushing him back only compounds the problem. Meanwhile, they better hope that it really is nothing more than a hip strain.

After careful consideration and going position by position, 2023 is worse by a a few inches.
Both lineups reek of desperation and last place.

That lineup will not scare anybody...

Hammer, I’m sure they know the exact extent of the injury. Whether they tell us or not is another story.

I think most of us were way off on the win total estimates and season predictions. This looks like "The Year The Wheels Fell Off". Boston won't be able to hold onto last place for long. Yanks are comin' on mighty strong ... for the race to the cellar.

@ BTR999, Yeah, I should've written "we" better hope it's nothing more than a strain.

Boone says he talked to Judge earlier in the year about being more careful on the basepaths and sliding feet first. How 'bout taking away the green lights from everyone except Volpe and Cabrera? The manager should control his players on the basepaths. How many times are Rizzo and Torres going to get thrown out before Boone puts the brakes on them?

I remember that Rizzo did something similar several times last year as well, getting thrown out at third base and killing rallies. I think that one of those plays killed us in a Boston game.

It's one thing to be aggressive on the basepaths. It's another thing to be effin' stupid.

Man that's one of those "which-smells-worse-dog-shit-or-cat-shit" comparisons. Dog shit can be straight-up overpowering but cat shit has that dead fish component that might push it to the front. I don't know, tough choice.

Win totals...I may have said 91. Must have been drinking early that day.

Game over already in TX.

2-5 road trip. Last place here we come!

Yup...if the Yankees are very lucky they might score 2, maybe 3 runs-tops. Time to take a nap.

Hey, I feel like my birthright is being stripped away from me in a public and ceremonious way: The Wild Card Play-In game that has been our consolation for so long now appears out of reach

April has been one disappointment after another, it's not even May and the season feels lost,,,, what's worse, there's no reason to r believe it will get better when the injured return, with the exception of Judge ( and Volpe, and maybe DJ), I find this team a profound Snoozefest!

This game will not be a Yankee Classic…

The clock has struck 12 for Nestor, it was a good run. I didn’t realize Abreu was still on the team. Good to see he hasn’t changed. It’s time to become a Pirates fan!

From Max Goodman…

Harrison Bader rehab assignment update:

Bader was 0-for-4 today with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He's 2-for-19 (.105) in five games with SWB and 3-for-25 (.120) overall in seven rehab games thus far.

When you are comparing two pebbles in an all gravel driveway, it doesn't much matter how one pebble differs from the other.

Mildred,

Hog shit and chicken shit both smell worse than dog or cat shit. They can make your eyes burn.

I actually think today's lineup was slightly better, which means it smells like dog shit mixed with steamed cat shit. Ten years ago was a Hog shit and stewed chicken shit medley.

And remember that you can't drink all day if you don't start early.

I had 90 wins, so I was probably drinking at the time. Or it was a flashback from that 1978 Grateful Dead concert.

Considering the amount of money paid to field this train wreck they might go down as one of the worst teams of all time

So now it’s Cole and 4 days in the hole!

With Cashman, the motto is not "Less is more" but rather "Less is much less."
