Yank fans find manure under the tree and merrily sing out, "There must be a pony!"

No catcher? No third baseman? No relief help? But our third 1B?

Can we impeach Brian Cashman via the 25th Amendment?

I think the plan construct a roster of enough left-handed players that every one of them can play out of position.

Reports are the Yankees are wrapping up a deal with the Giants for RH LF Heliot Ramos. This was a comment, on The Athletic, about the proposed trade: “With this trade and the Garcia trade Cashman is back to buying into guys with big power, a ton of swing/miss, and DH types with negative defensive metrics. He keeps building rosters like it's the 2010s.”

The Giants and Yankees are in agreement on a trade that would send Heliot Ramos to New York for Henry Lalane & Kaeden Kent.

Who are Henry Lalane & Kaeden Kent? Any good?

These trades are comin' on fast and furious. More action than I anticipated.

Lalane was considered an excellent pitching prospect until thus year, his star has fallen lately. Kent is the son of HOFer Jeff Kent and is considered a mid-level INF prospect who was having a pretty good season….more of a contact hitter, which the Yankees don’t value.

Yes, and the Yankees more active, though they’ve added 2 strike our prone power hitters who are poor defenders. We already have too many of that type of player, IMO

Heliot Ramos, the stats tell the story. He is about a .260 hitter, maybe a bit better. Burst on the scene in 2024, his first full year, and had an impressive OPS of almost .800. After that, in 2025 and 2026, he has kind of deflated and flatlined to a .728 OPS. And the power this year seems to have dipped somewhat. So it appears that he's not going to get any better. Might even be retrogressing. So that's why the Giants are moving him out. I don't know what we're sending them, but it's smart to move on if you think you can do much better with a younger, more talented player. Does he improve us right now? Probably, yes. He's a little bit above mediocre hitter.

Yeah, I don't know that it's a huge improvement on paper. Even if Garcia is the N.L. leader in slugging pct.

NY Post says Ramos has hit over .290 with .835 OPS against lefty pitching this year. So perhaps they're thinking of a platoon.

Schuemann has been sent back to the minors. Thanks be to God. Schuemann was atrocious. His leadoff at-bats were some of the worst you've ever seen. He keeps taking strike 3 down in the zone. Then exacerbates it by challenging the first out of the game in the 1st inning. He did that at least twice, if I recall correctly. WTF?

Anyway, this pretty much spells the end of Jasson Dominguez & Spencer Jones this year. They'll be shipped back to the minors. Maybe not immediately, but as soon as Bellinger comes back.

Past six o'clock eastern time now. So I guess that does it for the trades. Not hearing any more from the Yankee front.

There has been trade activity all over baseball. Mets have traded Clay Holmes to the Cubbies.

2 DHs. 2 more DHs.

Pathetic trade deadline. The Yanks are resigned to the Dodgers winning back-to-back-to-back and Brian and Hal saying basically...why bother?

But it ALWAYS comes back to: Brian is a moron and Hal truly doesn't care. Always. Always. Always.
