Edwar arrested for impersonating Steve Karsay?

The famous relief pitcher Edwar Ramirez, now on sabbatical from the "Prarie " League of the southern Mexico desert country, was allegedly arrested last night in a Manhattan Hotel, charged with impersonating former Yankee great, Steve Karsay.

Edwar, you may recall, is still a Yankee property and the charge he faces is a misdemeanor. Apparently, Edwar was watching the Yankee game the other afternoon from the comfort of "an entertainment bar" on 10th Avenue, at the very moment Karl Farnsworth was called in two give up two homeruns in the marathon game against the White Sox.

When the second dinger left the stadium, Edwar began yelling, " I'm Steve Karsay " and I pitched better than him when I was a Yankee." Whereupon, the bartender asked for identification and Edwar produced a " full package of ID " including a faded
and " non mint condition" Steve Karsay rookie card.

Needless to say, this display encouraged a round or two of free drinks for the famous Yankee reliever. Unfortunately for Edwar, there was Yankee fan in the room with a flashlight and he could see one distinctive difference between the real Karsay and the alleged Karsay. Edwar only weighs about 137 pounds soaking wet and, well, we all know that Steve enjoyed the deli table in the Yankee clubhouse.

When the police arrived, the ever humble Edwar mentioned that he actually was a relief pitcher for the Yankees who once struck out the side in his first appearance.

Bad luck for him, just like the 27 consecutive walks and grand slam he issued during his second appearance, the cops were Mets fans. " You are just another waste of time," they said. "No unkown rookie has ever done that on the Yankees."

Released on his own recognisance, Edwar reported to the Port Authority bus terminal where he boarded a Greyhound for the southern border.

He was carrying two bags of chocolate twinkies, a six pack of Dos Equi ( twist off ), and his Steve Karsay ID card.

This isn't all he's done.

I put in to be Edwar's MySpace friend, and he never got back to me.

Five minutes in the majors and they think they're better than us.
