Thu-uh-uh-uh-uh Yankee Winn!

The Yankiverse has spoken and Brian Cashman listened.

IIH readers having soundly rejected Johnny Damon as a Yankee Outfielder of the Decade, Cashman has signed former Giants outfielder Randy Winn to a one-year contract for approximately $2 million.

Will Johnny Damon take out a full-page newspaper ad thanking Yankees fans LIKE HE DID FOR BOSTON FANS?

So they wanted to get somebody to bat right-handed and platoon in the outfield.
And thet got an outfielder whose OPS batting righty last year was
.384 [Baseball-Reference.com].

Winn's career OPS as a righty against lefty pitchers is a more respectable .758.

But he'll be 36 in June.

Damon is already 36.

2009 OPS [all pitching]

Damon 854
Winn 671

I'll take Damon in 2010.

Of course, it's not my money.

As long as we are getting guys from winning franchises.

Oh, right, the Giants haven't won anything in about four centuries.

His two homers per year will be big for us, if they come as walk-offs in games 6 and 7 of the World Series.
