Plague Theater: Remembering the wonder of Mark Fidrych

That incredible night when he beat the mighty Yankees. Yeah, it hurt, but the whole world stood in awe...

Remember that game and even as a Yankee fan you had to applaud his performance.

At 3:45, Fidrych turns into a werewolf.

WOW...

I DON'T REMEMBER WARNER WOLF DOING THAT GAME.

FIDRYCH WAS DOMINANT THAT DAY.

FUNNY HOW BEING CLOCKED AT 93 MPH BACK THEN, SEEMED TO BE HIGH.

NOW IT SEEMS TO BE ON THE LOW END ON MOST TEAMS NOW.

I remember that game, too. Man, he was good, and you couldn't help but get caught up in it all.

I looked it up, he threw 24 complete games that year—at the age of 21.

Next year, Detroit had another great-looking kid up, Dave Rozema. He threw 16 complete games. Pretty soon, his arm went, too. They had half-a-rotation, almost, right there, and they blew. Just doing the same-old, same-old, nobody paying attention until they actually had to start paying pitchers.
