The Yankees’ short-lived stay
alone in first place ended on Saturday, as surprise starter Johnny Loaisiga…was
hit hard and early, in a 6-3 loss.
Leading the charge for the ChiSox
was Yoan Moncada, who hit a single, double, triple, and home run.
Grabbing the win for Chicago with
a complete-game victory was Dallas Keuchel, who the Yankees decided was not
worth signing this year, either. Keuchel surrendered home runs to Gary
Sanchez and the Oft-Injured Hicks, but was otherwise imperturbable, striking
out 11, for his 14th win.
Elsewhere in the majors, the
streaking Mets, who have been on fire ever since losing their last series to
the Yankees, moved into second place, just five games behind the world champion
Nationals.
The Mets, spurred on by the
sensational play of former Yankee Brett Gardner—plus the desire not to have to
wear Amazon penises on their uniform next year, if they somehow win the World
Series—celebrated by sacrificing the 7-Line Army to the gods.
