Did not like him as a TV analyst, But Loved him as a player and a person. . will have to break this slowly to my wife who grew up a Reds fan in OHIO. He was her favorite Red. When we were dating in 1979, I took her to a Reds-Astros game in Cincy and she stood up and cheered for him whenever he got up to bat. We were in the first row of the overhang in old Riverfront. Having been to games only in NY, I thought that people would throws us out of the stands for rooting for the other team. but Ohio is more civilized.
RIP "Little Joe", I flap my arm in salute.

Amen, guys. One of the greatest players I ever saw, at his peak.

I remember that 1976 season. The Yanks had had a great year, their best in a long time. But we all knew they weren't getting by those Reds.

There have been better all-around teams, mainly because they had better starting pitching.

But when it came to fielding an everyday lineup that could hit for average, power, steal bases, and play the field, I don't know if there was anyone better than The Big Red Machine of 1975-76. If they had managed to get a couple of really top starters, they would have been frightening.

RIP Joe Morgan, you complete awesome player who I hate for beating the Yankees in the WS. Please punch Hal in the nose if you ever meet him in an after-life.
