In anticipation of their forthcoming ALCS against the virtual Yankees, the virtual Chicago Rainbow Sox announced that, having already changed their name from “White Sox,” they were now thinking of changing it again.
“While ‘Rainbow Sox’ is infinitely better in its commitment to
social justice, the whole naming thing only made us think about how many people
in the world aren’t currently able to afford socks,” a spokesman for the Chicago
club told the press. “As a result, we have now decided to rename the team
again. They will now be the ‘Rainbow Sans Sox.’ ”
Asked by a reporter, “Which is the rainbow color, the socks, or
the not-socks?” a team spokesman said, “We’ll get back to you on that one.”
