Will Alphonso attempt a comeback?

Over the history of this blog, never has Alphonso been so down on the Yankees. Never has he expressed such animal-like fury and explosive disillusionment over the state of the team. In texts and emails - kept from public view, so they will not induce mass panic - he has said things that no one should ever know. He has indicated utter contempt for the current Yankee season. He has smoldered in the past, but never like this.

The injury he suffered Thursday seemed career-threatening.

Nevetheless... could a valiant, against-all-odds comeback attempt by Alphonso provide the Yankees with reason to believe in themselves again?

At his advanced age, could Alphonso overcome the injury and bring championship juju again?

I hope so. He's been a role model to me ever since I was a little kid. In a Bizarro World kind of way (if you know what I mean.)

Alphonso is a deeply religious man. I fear he'll take the injury as a "sign" to move on to a new phase in life.
