Mets Nix Yank Rallies

It was always going to be the case.
This scrappy, rag-tag Yankee team was not going to hold up against their cross-town rivals.
We won a game in Tampa, stole a game in Tampa and got undressed a game in Tampa. Our typical outing is about two runs and a lot of pitching.
It is a shame that we did nothing for Phil Hughes.
It is a shame we made that Met drudge pitcher look like an all star. It is a shame that Robbie gave up his winning streak.
It is a shame that the Mets have not yet used their best pitcher.
It is a shame that we are going to be ashamed when this goat series staggers to an end.

Phil pitches a gem and the Yanks can't hit.
On the upside, Grandy is out for six weeks and Tex is taking it slow on the rehab front. A-Rod is nowhere to be seen.
The Yankee announcers yesterday were thrilled by Hughes' performance because it increased his trade value, especially as part of a package deal. This is what we've come to. Rizzuto would have been appalled and called them all huckleberries.
Even our cheerleaders were lousy yesterday.
Meanwhile, "Derek Jeter (ankle) is close to getting the walking boot on his left foot removed again." Does that mean he'll also have it put back on again? I can't keep track.
Yeah, sure is great to have Grandy out for six weeks so we can get the Mighty Suzuki more chances to crawl toward 3000 hits.
If Duda can play the outfield for the Mets, can't Overbay play out there for us?
I would rather have Ichi out there playing defense, yes. No question. I will gladly sacrifice Grandy's rally killing double plays and poorer defensive skills for Ichi's speed and ability to strike out about...oh, I don't know...100 times less.
But it's a matter of which shade of gray a person likes.
Grandy would give you a higher OBP and about 10 times as many HR. Mickey and the Babe struck out a lot, too. Would you prefer an over-the-hill Ichi to them?
