So some "expert" (PhD in Batology?) says that a Mickey Mantle "autograph" bat (I got one too [and it looks identical to the one in the photo] but I doubt the Mick used it, since I bought it retail as a kid) MAY have been used at SOME TIME in 1964. Well there goes the 1956 Triple Crown. Gee, ya think that this is historically significant or is somebody trying to jack up the price for an auction? My reaction to the disclosure that Whitey Ford, at least in his waning days, had Elston Howard scuff up the ball? Poor Whitey. Apparently Gaylord Perry wouldn't loan him that Black and Decker sander. In fact, the story that Whitey struck out Willie Mays in an All-Star game with a spitball adds to his legend. Even better, Whitey & Mickey did it on a bet with Horace Stoneham to win a new set of golf clubs. God I love those guys! Fistfights in public aren't recommended, but do we think less of Hank Bauer and Billy Martin for putting some punks in their place at the Copacabana? Horse manure. The Mick is still the King. Take that cork and stick it up your ass, John Taube.

My understanding is that Yogi is behind bars, possibly even at the Hebrew Home.
