"Fans, for the past two weeks, you've been reading about a bad break.

Yet today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth." -Lou Gehrig, July 4th, 1939

A special day in the history of the Bronx, of New York City, of this country. And what a mindless, crass severing of baseball's mystic chords of memory and feeling when the Steindolts paved over the sacred baseball ground on which Lou Gehrig stood--on which Ruth, Mantle, Berra, and Ford stood--to build a tacky steakhouse and shopping mall across the street.
