Dr. Alphonso Predicts.......

The rib cage tweak experienced yesterday by Nunez will not be a " day-to-day" thing.

He said himself that, by the 4th inning yesterday, he couldn't throw, much less swing a bat.  And while the MRI was negative, that means nothing.  It is the pain that means something.

This injury hurts when you cough, when you roll over at night and when you squeeze paste from the toothpaste tube.  A checked swing will separate your rib cage from the tendons.

In my medical opinion, Nunny won't be ready for 2-3 weeks, minimum.  If they try to get him back too soon, he will re-aggravate the injury, guaranteed.  Then, we'll be looking at the all star break and the temptations of the looming trade deadline.  It is at these moments that Cashman' performs at his worst.

We need to bring up Adams, whom we already cut and, because no one wanted him, we got back.  Another likely miss for our infield, but worth a look.  Why not find out if he can play?

If we get into a trade, we get another old dog and give up the limited talent we have.

And people will want Montgomery and Sanchez.

Whether the record says it yet or not, this is a re-building year.  And we can't re-build if we trade prospects for fill-in crap because some idiot thinks we can win in 2013.
