Whenever we recall that mammoth home run by Jose Altuve to end the Yankees' 2019 playoffs run, we'll have to believe he knew which pitch was coming.
By cheating, both Houston and the Redsocks won world championships, and nobody will ever take them away.
Meanwhile, the big bad Yankees - the consummate evil, according to all self-respecting Gammonites - played by the rules, and lost.
So, now the perps face merely a one-year suspension... one year? Wow.
And they say crime doesn't pay?
Isn't cheating a worse crime than what Pete Rose committed, betting on his own team? Rose is banned for life. They get a one-year suspension... along with their World Series rings.

Pete Rose got royally screwed. It's time to let bygones be bygones and let him into the Hall.
I agree, the one year suspensions ain't enough. And what about the players who cheated? Will they get some suspension time too? Because if Domingo German gets an 80 regular game suspension plus playoffs for slapping his girlfriend, I don't understand how Astros and Red Sox players can get away scot free with destroying the integrity of the game.
The Hammer of God
Rumors are out there that implicate the Yankees and the Dodgers also cheating. Why don't they just get rid of the replay room and check for rogue cameras in ballparks? MLB have to do something to protect the integrity of the game. At least that what Bowie Kuhn would have said.

These were my initial reactions also. One wonders what the reason is for no player discipline and I am not buying that he feels the Mgr and GM are responsible for the players as he stated. He also did say if you read the whole 9 pages that there were just too many players involved to discipline them all. The owner(s) are also probably in on this. I also can't believe how the press is almost uniformly saying how this is such harsh punishment.
Owners: Look Rob, too many players involved some are now on our teams plus we have negotiations with union. Leave them alone.
Rob: But don't I need to show strength?
Owners: Suspend the mgr and GM, Jim was going to fire them anyway. Also take some draft picks away if you want to look stronger, they are drafting low anyway. Plus give them the max dollar fine it is only 5 million.
Rob: OK...what about Jim? By the same logic isn't he responsible for the Mgr and GM.
Owners: Nah, we are the owners, we are not responsible for anything related to actual baseball. Leave him alone.
ROb: OK, but what about Cora and Beltran?
Owners: We will get back to you.
And the Astros players skate free. EDB
Here's a suggestion: keep changing signs, all the time. It's the only way to work around it.
And no, I wouldn't let Rose in the Hall. Betting on games is the third rail of pro sports. Once you're in a position to fix games, it's all over.
Hoss, now that sports betting is being legalized in more places with more to come, that's gonna be a tough standard to uphold.
Not saying you're wrong, but I don't know. And betting on yourself and your own team seems to me to be the height of "trying to win." Of course, if Rose was shaving runs and such...
Let's be clear about Pete Rose. He deserves to be in the Hall ...
Except for these issues:
1) Betting on baseball is the only permanent death penalty in MLB and everyone knew it. Couldn't he have bet on football like decent ordinary Americans?
2) The recalcitrant fucker has NEVER apologized.
3) Bet on games!? Bet on games!? That lowlife prick fixed games and games with his bookie. How do you think that idiot singles machine payed off his massive gambling debts?
4) And finally there's this: FUCK PETE ROSE AND FUCK THE REDS!!!
Hal?
Oh Hally-boy?
Fuck you too Hal.
I hear ya, JM, but there are a couple of problems with that argument.
—First, as manager, even if Rose was "only" betting on his own team to win, he could do all sorts of harmful things to achieve that objective.
"Hmm, my ace bullpen closer's been looking a little ragged of late. Maybe I should rest him for the stretch run. But hey, I got thirty large on this game tonight! In he goes!"
—Second, even if you manage your team exactly as you would otherwise—and bet ONLY on it to win...what if you don't win? What if you get down by some huge amount to the gamblers? What are you going to do when they come to you and say, 'Hey, we won't go public/ break your arm/ threaten your wife and kids and aged mother IF you throw a game for us"?
Hoss? JM? Do you have any idea about the actual character of Pete Rose? It is said that if Rose had lost an arm like Dave Dravecky that three certified authentic amputated arms would have been for sale the next day on the collectors market. Rose is a cheap punk with a batting eye. He sure as fucked fixed games when he was a manager. Fixed them. He took that suspension right away so there wouldn't be an investigation ... because he was dirty as fuck-all.
And again, this apparently needs to be reiterated. FUCK PETE ROSE AND FUCK THE REDS!!!
