With a Super Bowl win, KC would pass Minneapolis in championships; Philly will simply inch closer to Detroit.

It's hard to believe, and it's mostly due to ancient history and its plethora of teams, but NYC remains the leader.

NYC count is wrong. Should be four less. The Icelanders are not a NYC team, they are a Long Island team...

Fun thing to look at but NYC has the advantage of having multiple teams in each sport. Not that those teams win a lot. (Cough... Jets... Mets), but they all add up.

Ranger,

It's not where a team plays. It's the name. New York Islanders.

The Giants and Jets play in a different state but they are NY teams. The Dallas Cowboys... can go fuck themselves.

Agreed, 999.

Doug...the NHL Charter plainly states under expansion back in the 70s that the two new teams were Washington and Long Island. Not New York...Long Island...they are a Long Island franchise...
