This hurts -- first to be attacked by the MLB lawyers that you thought were your friends -- now this: Hot doings in Tamp Town, and nobody invites us. According to Silive (worst abbrevation for a news site, ever)
A night of partying with two women at a bar and in his Tampa, Florida, hotel room allegedly cost the Staten Island Yankees pitching coach his $10,000 World Series championship ring and two cell phones -- one which was issued by the Yankees.
Yikes. Here's the skinny: Our minor league pitching coach Pat Daneker -- always on the lookout for prospects -- sized up two potential hard-throwers in a bar. He was impressed with their obvious physical capabilities and -- on the MLB Anatomical Assessment Profile Scale of 1-70 (which Stephen Strasburg is a 64) -- rendered each a tentative 69. But before offering either one a contract, he insisted on more in-depth scouting.
They had drinks, and the women, who were wearing "short mini skirts," wound up with Daneker at his Holiday Inn Express hotel room.
The report says that sometime that night, Daneker went to an ATM, suggesting the Yankees probably have signed the two youngsters, and they could have an impact in the upcoming short-seasons at Tampa and in Staten Island. Unfortunately, when Daneker woke up, the two hot prospects were gone, along with various items.
