Redsock Nation stunned, agonized, by end to Ellsbury's phenomenal hitting streak

What an incredible joyride it was!

Only 34 games away from DiMaggio's record!

Can't they induct him into the Hall of Fame now?

Must he play two more years?

It's the bottom of the ninth and the Red Socks are down to their final strike. Is Varitek going to go down looking? Or will someone hit a miracle three pointer and get a first down.

Where's the big bop-up update???

The boostown goobler had this:

"
The Boston Globe
Close calls for slumping Ortiz
Hard-hit balls still result in an 0 for 4
By Adam Kilgore
Globe Staff / May 30, 2009

TORONTO - David Ortiz nearly hit a grand slam on the first pitch he saw last night, a soaring fly ball that fell inches short of the wall and into an outfielder's glove. He blistered the next ball he hit so hard it nearly seared through the first baseman's mitt...
Ortiz still finished 0 for 4 in a 6-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays."

As Maxwell Smart said, "missed it by that much".

The "inches" short should have said "two steps from".

Mel,

I'm struggling over the demise of that goodhearted old chum, Big Pappy. It used to be funny. Now it's... just sad. How horrible can we be? Would we mock Pamela Anderson when her black-and-blue breasts are falling to her knees? Would we ridicule Dick Cheney when his monocle and riding crop are missing, as he searches through his waterboard manuals for his heart attack pills? No. There is a limit to the human mind.

El Duque,

Don't feel bad for him. His contract is guaranteed.

Even without Remy, the boostown announcers are terrible. Phil could do better -- right now. The time to stop the ridicule is when Mr. Steinbrenner gets his 'farewell' trophy.
