What is the world record for home runs given up in a single outing?
This cannot have occurred prior to 1900 ( my rule ).
It cannot include some drunk who pitched both ends of a double header, either.
And, oh yes, it has to be on a Major League Baseball team.
I would like to leave Haney ( Heaney?) in the game for the full nine innings, regardless of consequences.
Because this is clearly a "give-away" game. we might as well put something in the record books.
Related question ( which can be ignored ): Since Heaney is going to give up 7-10 runs in 3-4 innings, isn't there some kid in AA or AAA who would benefit from the experience of pitching in Yankee stadium?
I mean, I know it took the pandemic and the fall of Afghanistan to force the Yankees to give Luis Gil a start, but isn't this a similar situation?

Honest question: if Heaney gets blasted again tonight, what's the argument for keeping him on the roster? How does he avoid being DFAed?
He's a free agent at the end of the year. A pure rental. He's not part of our longterm plans.
He can't stay in the rotation with an ERA north of 9.00.

What role does Heaney play down the stretch? There's nothing. We can't send him to AAA either since he's out of options.

I was alluding to that earlier when I posted the 10 run mercy rule would be invoked before the 8th inning. All Hope ends with The Heaney. I mean some of Cashman's prior acquisitions could have maybe looked good on paper, but Heaney? On another note, the defensive switches at the end of the second game last night were spot on. Far be it trim me to praise Boone, but Voit doesn't make that first out in foul territory and Wade doesn't make that last out from shortstop. Just giving due where it's warranted.

I just checked BB Ref. (No reason, I just did!! Stop it!!) Odor, his numbers look awful, but he has an OPS+ of 100. Absolute league average.

Even when Gleyber started to rake, getting 11 hits in his last 8 games and raising his average from .242 to .253 before going on the DL, he had all of 4 doubles, 0 homers, and 5 ribbies in that streak. He has not homered since July 21st, and he still has all of 6 taters on the season, as opposed to 14 errors.
Last year, he had 3 homers and 9 errors.
He is someone the Yankees should seriously think about dealing next year, or even in the off-season.
