Here is the inscription for his plaque, taken from a column written last year by one of the foot soldiers in the campaign, Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy. And, really, after this eloquent statement of Rice's impeccable credentials, who could possibly argue?
"(Rice) came up short in the postseason, he didn't play great defense, and he didn't dominate for as long as some other sluggers. But he didn't cheat."
Ah, yes. The stuff legends are made of.
