And so begins the Hoffnerization process

Cameron Maybin traded to desperate Yankees

Maybin, 32, was playing at Columbus (Triple-A) after being released by the Giants in late March. In 14 Triple-A games, Maybin hit .216 with five RBIs.

I think that headline should've read, "to desperate Yankees front office."

This team looks anything but desperate.

But of course, here comes the over-the-hill gang. Cashman's favorite go-to.

They don't perform, they don't excite, but they aren't youngsters who might leave you open to criticism.

I expect the media Hosannas over Cashman's sly moves to begin momentarily.

At least we "traded" no one for Maybin. Just "cash considerations.

I fucking hate this GM and front office in general.

It's a good thing we didn't have any room for Harper.

Otherwise we would never have acquired Maybin.

They should be paying us to take him. This is his 10th team in 5 years plus a month. I'm sure he'll be on his 11th come July.

Good God, Cashman is panicking. What trash heap old guy will he sign next?

Maybin has played for nine big league teams since making his major league debut against the Yankees as a Tiger in 2007.

He is a career .254 hitter and batted .249 in 129 games for Seattle and Miami last year."

CASHMAN IS A MORON.

Breath people, they got him for nothing, and who else was there Billy Burns? There are few available young guys to actually call up (Florial is probably not ready quite yet just coming out of the cast). As long as Maybin is the first out the door when someone heals I'm fine with this.

BUT HE'S NOT A PLAYER. HE SUCKS. WADE IS BETTER AT THIS POINT. WHAT DO PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT THIS?

MAYBIN IS WORSE THAN ANY OF THE YANKEES' MINOR LEAGUE OPTIONS. THE TEAM HAS JUST ONE SEVEN OUT OF EIGHT. WHY IS THIS SITE INFESTED WITH IMBECILES WHO THINK THAT ANOTHER IMBECILE, CASHMAN, IS A GENIUS?

JM said...

It is? Can we call the Orkin man?

Anonymous said...

No--call your local brain surgeon and ask for a brain transplant from a non-imbecile.

Oh, it's Anonymous' evil twin. That explains it. You should change your name to Good Time Charlie. Laugh a minute.

There is only one true stat baby asshole here and that is, indeed, him. Just ignore him.

Although...Tyler Too nearly cost us last night by misjudging not one but two flyballs. This was not a sun field in the afternoon, just the Big A at night. He has to do better than that.

HEY, I JUST WANT YOU GUYS TO KNOW WE HAVE AN ALL CAPS "IMPOSTER" ON BOARD.

I DID NOT SANCTION NOR TYPE THE LAST 2 ALL CAP STATEMENTS ABOVE.

THEY WILL BE HEARING FROM MY COPYRIGHT ATTORNEY SHORTLY.

I AGREE WITH JM THOUGH...

WHY PICK UP A CAMERON MAYBIN, WHEN WE HAVE OUR OWN ISAAH GILLIAM (WHO I BELIEVE IS HOT RIGHT NOW), IN THE MINORS?

LETS ROLL WITH WHAT WE GOT!

Indeed, Real ALL-CAPS.

And another hustle run today! Tyler Too beats out an infield hit, steals second and third (Boone has finally realized: Angels do not have a real catcher), and scores on another single.

I love it!

His tone and syntax are familiar. Definitely not you, ALL CAPS.

Kay and Meredith patronizing The Master today on the broadcast. After Ursula's home run, they sent Meredith to ask what his call was. He told them, of course, that it was "Gio Urshela/ The most happy fella!"

He then felt obliged, by Meredith's blank look, to explain that "The Most Happy Fella" was a hit Broadway musical, and sing a line from it: "I'm the most happy fella/ In the whole Napa Valley..."

Meredith and Mikey chortled over it as if The Master was insane.

I seem to remember a teacher telling me once, "Just because you don't know something doesn't mean it isn't worth knowing."

So, top of the 5th, Tanaka gives up a hit, then starts rubbing the back of his neck. Next he gives up a booming two-run homer. No movement from Larry Rothschild or Boone in the dugout.

After getting an out, he gives up another hit, then another, booming two-run homer. Still no movement from either genius. Next batter, another long fly to right.

Rothschild stands there in the dugout. Boone stands there next to him in the dugout and blows bubbles with his gum (that's why he's the manager).

I suspect it's even money Tanaka joins his many brethren on the DL tomorrow.

Tanaka back out for another inning, after being plastered in the 5th. Here is where the game gets lost.

Again, what is the point of keeping 8 pitchers on the roster when you refuse to recognize when your starter is done?

I worked late and only got to see part of the 7th. The bottom of the 7th. It was baseball aplenty.

How long before Maybin is on the IL?

If you look at his numbers, Maybin has been on the IL (incompetent list) for several years now.
