The spread is now 300

Right now, Mike Ford is hitting exactly 300 points higher than Greg Bird, .471-.171.

His OPS is 479 points higher, 1.029-.550.

Take way 200 points from each for the difference between the majors and the minors, and you're still talking about a much superior ballplayer.

When the hell do we pull the trigger?

True. It's only been five years for Bird in the majors, and now three years for Ford in Scranton.

I think that certain things are slowly, surely becoming clear, however.

Ive been interested in this player since he was drafted

And I get it I know the biggest step is from AAA the the Majors

But 1b isnt exactly a goldmine of hits and runs right now

Why not give the man a chance I know he would need to be on the 40 man but so what

THE "MYSTERY SCOUT" WE HAVE (THAT MR. DUQUE ALWAYS TALKS ABOUT), ALREADY HAS DECIDED.

FORD WONT CUT IT IN THE MAJORS. (OF COURSE, THE "MYSTERY SCOUT", IS COOP).

WE HAVE A BLACK HOLE AT FIRST BASE (FROM THE LEFT SIDE, ANYWAY).

I THINK LUKE CAN BE PRODUCTIVE, IT'S JUST NOT HIS FAULT THAT HE IS HITTING 3RD OR 4TH RIGHT NOW....THAT ISN'T WHERE HE BELONGS.

TELL BIRD HE NEEDS TO GO DOWN TO SCRANTON, GET HIS HEAD STRAIGHT, AND BEGIN TO WORK ON HITTING THE BALL THE OPPOSITE WAY, AND MAKING MORE SOLID CONTACT. HE IS STRIKING OUT AT AN INSANE RATE. IT'S AN EASY BOOK PITCHERS HAVE ON HIM. FASTBALLS, AND A LOT OF THEM.

IF YOU CAN'T HIT A FASTBALL IN THE MAJOR LEAGUES, FORGET IT. YOU CAN'T MAKE IT.

I AM CURIOUS TO SEE HOW BIRD WILL HIT IN TRIPLE A OVER A COUPLE MONTHS. IF HE CAN'T HIT THERE THEN THAT'S ALL WE NEED TO KNOW.

CALL UP MIKE FORD.

HE IS A LEFTY BAT, AND HOW MUCH WORSE CAN HE BE THAN CHRIS CARTER OR GREG BIRD?

You are all missing the point. The yankees never do the logical thing.

Ford is a Princeton guy and, since Lou Gehrig, the Yankees have never had an Ivy Leaguer on their roster.

Cashman is always feeling inadequate around people who are smarter. He feels as he looks; short, bald and dumb.

He would only make this move if both Bird and Voit are injured.

To me, it looks as though Bad is already hobbling.

Dream on.

Good thoughts, though , men.

It is just that you are talking to a brick wall.

It is why the Yankees suck.

ALL CAPS, I was just about to post that.

for those of you that don't want to click it said: Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees placed 1B Greg Bird on the 10-day IL (retroactive to 4/14) with a left plantar fascia tear and selected INF Mike Ford from @swbrailriders and signed him to a Major League contract. OF Jacoby Ellsbury was also transferred to the 60-day IL.

That's got to be it for Bird right? I feel terrible for the guy.

Oh, YEAH.

Hey, I feel bad for the guy, too. He becomes another member of "The Green Flash," the Yankees would-be dynasty, c. 2017-2018, that coulda been and almost was, along with the likes of Dustin Fowler and Sancho's old self. Someday we will get to see them play in Paradise, and know how good they really might have been.

But sad as it is, Bird never seemed all that gun-ho about his career. And now Mike Ford will at least get some sort of shot. Will he take advantage of it? Who knows—but at least he'll get some opportunity.

And Scotland, I THOUGHT this might bring you back!

Yes, this is the moment for the clans to rise! Mike Ford is in the show!

Horace you and I have formed a transatlantic Mike Ford fan club.

We have been the lone voices in the Yankee Universe sometimes lonely but never giving up on our man

Im so pleased he has gotten a call up

Ok he might flop I think he was just average when Seattle picked him up in the rule 5 draft but deserves his chance and I will be cheering him on
