I could have sworn it was Stubby Kaye so I looked it up and it was indeed performed by Buddy Hackett. Never too old to learn something. In my defense, they have the same relative shape.
As an aside, Buddy is one of the few old school comics on my bucket list that I did not get to see live. Basically, him and Moms Mabley. Pretty much caught the rest.
