I have gone into disguise mode so his relatives can't ID me.
But last night, when it was 11-11 and Booney brought in Chance Adams, I texted my entourage that the game was as good as over. Manager Boone and his players must have decided:
" ...it's been a long week. Lot's of travel and pressure. Took 3 of 4 from Boston. We need a breather."
A game like the one yesterday against Detroit is enervating. No matter how much you score, it isn't enough.
So Manager Boone pulled the plug. It was time for dinner and for a good night's sleep.
So he dialed up, " NO CHANCE ADAMS."
And this former top pitching prospect did exactly what was expected; he gave up the game fast.
For Manager Boone, bringing in this dude is like " turning out the lights.... the party is over."
And NO CHANCE ADAMS is nothing if not predictable and consistent.

Beware of anybody who starts out by saying "I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but..."
With that out of the way, I'm not a conspiracy theorist but, having grown up in Yonkers, Alphonso, I know that things are now always what they seem. I also grew up knowing that the fix is always in. I remember the short, but sad rides back from the stadium in 1967, 68, 69 and beyond after deadly Yankee losses and slowly realizing that things were beyond my ken or control.
I'd like to think of it as "Central Avenue Distress Syndrome" or, possibly, "Tuckahoe Road Disorder."
13bit - I am sorry to hear of your suffering from both CADS and DRD. They are similar to the YISD (Yankees Induced Stress Disorder) from which I have suffered throughout the season. Every time we win I bounce around the house with a most sunny disposish, and following every loss I mope around for a few hours bitching about everything. It’s a seasonal disorder, though, so I should recover soon.

I attended PS 28 - Iroquois Road was where I grew up. We both made it out, apparently. Then again, you can take the boy out of Yonkers, as they say, but you can’t take Yonkers out of the boy. Have you also ever noticed how “Yonkers“ never auto-completes on any computer anywhere?
And as 13bit knows, I lived near Nepperhan Ave. growing up. Was a few miles away from Tuckahoe Road. Went to PS 24. Not there now.
I have not noticed that.
Kind of fitting, though.

Mohican Heights. I ended up in Colonial Heights after that, but Mochican Heights is closer to Cassilis. I actually never heard of Cassilis until you mentioned it but, incredibly, it was really close. If you went north on Cassilis until you hit Tuckahoe Road, then made a left, the next street is Iroquois Road. If you made a right and followed it a few blocks to the dead end, you would have found me, playing with the tar bubbles and digging holes in the dirt.
Where did I go for milkshakes is a good question. As I remember - and I did a lot of neural damage in the 70s and 80s, so that's a loose term, "remember," I would hit a place in Bronxville and also one close to the old Westinghouse building, on the other side of Tuckahoe Road. And, of course, there was always Carvel. Always and forever Carvel.
I'm now in Greenwich Village - for a long time - and dream all the time about decamping for warmer climes permanently.
I know the area now that yo describe it.
We did the milkshake thing at a soda shop ( burgers, shakes, etc ) on W. Pondfield road....near the southern terminus of Cassilis as you describe it.
Si finally we learn: you are of " the village people."
I recommend Socal for warmer climes...that's where we landed.

I used to worry about earthquakes and water shortages in Socal, but now I see them as a positive thing.
