4. Ryan McBroom dealt to KC for Latino 16-year-old money. So ends, for now, the saga of Brigadoon Refsynder, who brought the Broomster from Toronto.
For now, Yanks have home-field advantage through the ALCS.

Judge has had several huge home runs this season. Bottom 8 against the rays with two outs and two strikes after the dearnaud debacle comes to mind.
that was sweet. Oakland was getting in my head, looking like those young teams that used to knock the Yankees out of the playoffs every year -- Tigers, Astros, even the Angels a long while back. They were just hungrier and seemed younger and faster at all facets while our guys all tried to hit 5-run homers. Truth be told, it might be in Yankees' best interests if Boston got hot and maybe knocked Oakland out of the scrum ...

re Ref's end, it's truer than you know. Despite hitting over .300 in Louisville this year, Reds released Ref last week.
SWB is one game head in division with two games to play for getting into the playoffs. So I'm not sure if these guys are coming up so quickly...after all the Governor's Cup is within reach...

If his name wasn't McBroom would he have the traction he has here? Also, No disrespect but wasn't he kind of an anti-juju in the final analysis? Almost every time he was invoked we lost the sweep.
I'm glad that they got some international bonus money for him. There's this kid named Escoba who sounds pretty good. Maybe they can get him.
Quick note on yesterday's win:
Did anyone else notice how hands on Boone was? He gave the on the mound per talk to German and the was seen talking to him in between innings and then, even more impressively appeared to walk down the length of the dugout firing up the team. Way better than popping bubbles. Maybe he learned something this year.

McBroom is a metaphor, a symbol, a cleaning tool at McDonald's. It's not just the player, it's all he represents. The no chance minor leaguer, who should get a chance but never does. The hard-working guy who somehow never earns the favor of the Yankees brass, who would rather spend their time punishing Frazier. Sure, we haven't needed McBroom yet. But he may turn into a Buehner. Time will tell.

And much as I was praising Coops a post ago, McBroom is exactly the sort of dumb-ass dump he quietly does all the time.
A player developed to that level—who, for all we know, could beat out both of the Yanks' current first basemen—handed off money TOWARD picking up some 16-year-old of unknown ability?
That seems to me about the least you could possibly get for the guy. Why not at least bring him up with the expanded rosters, get him a few major-league at-bats, and see what he can do?
It's just a waste, along the lines of dumping Sonny Gray for nothing, when he still had value.

Here's a key fucking game, and we put in Ryan Fucking Dull. Why? Because he used to be on the A's roster. And he gives up runs. What the fuck are we doing? This is absolutely fucking bizarre. In the history of baseball, no team has ever won a World Series with a player named Dull on it. You can look it up...and on top of that...he's a Dull pitcher.

Lovely...we somehow got 6 great innings from Happ and then they put in Dull, a player they should not have even signed because he was so awful all year elsewhere, and he promptly looses the game for us. And then they put in Adams right after to ensure there is no way of coming back. I guess they really wanted to rest the entire pitching staff by putting those idiots in instead of trying to figure out how to win another one over on the A's. F' them!
Now Flaherty and Kay are justifying this Dull pitching move giving us some corporate speak about saving the pitching staff instead of going for home field in the playoffs. That's right Cashman, you keep repeating the same thing over and over again...viewers start believing this shit.

Is this still going on? When the appropriately-named Dull gave up runs to the appropriately-named Noisy (whatever) I switched to the Houston/Toronto game and watched Verlander toss his 120-pitch no hitter, the third of his career (2007, 2011, and 2019!). He is only one of six who have achieved this. Let's hear it for the old guys who can still deliver!
