Dear NYC Tabloid Editors: Please, please, please... Until this MLB lockout ends, boycott baseball on your back pages

Dear Madams and/or Sirs,

In a normal January, your back pages would regularly tout or condemn the latest moves by the Yankees and Mets - vanguards of mediocrity in this hellhole of professional sports.

Because of greed - (there is no other way to put it) - MLB has cancelled the hot stove winter of 2021-22 and told its fans to eff-off.

So be it.

Thus far in 2022, you have not devoted a single back page to either the Yankees or Mets.

Be it policy or happenstance, I applaud your decisions thus far, and I suggest it's time to make a public stance.

I ask you to announce a policy - from the great megaphone of your back pages:

NO TABOID COVERS FOR THE YANKEES AND METS UNTIL THE LOCKOUT ENDS.

That's right. No screamer headlines. No back page publicity. No free ink.

If you need to rip someone, you have the clown cars of the Jets, Giants and Knicks.

If you need to rejoice... well, there are Rangers, the Nets and the looming Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.

Certainly, you should continue to write about baseball. Just don't grant it the podium of your back page.

You'll be on the right side of history.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

El Duque
