Our story so far:

So as yet another Yankees pitcher falls, predictably, by the wayside, here is where we are in pitching in the weeks since the trade deadline:

Gone But Not Forgotten:

Jordan Montgomery:

4-0, 0.35  4 starts, 1 complete game, 1 shutout, 25 2/3 innings, 13 hits, 1 ER, 3 BB, 24 Ks

J.P. Sears (who we should see tomorrow night):

2-0, 1.76  3 starts, 15 1/3 innings, 13 hits, 3 ER, 4 BB, 8 Ks

Coulda Woulda Shoulda:

David Robertson (obtainable for a song):

0-1, 1.86 9 games, 5 games finished, 4 saves, 1 BS, 9 2/3 innings, 6 hits,  2 ER, 4 BB, 12 Ks

Incoming:

Frankie Montas (but hey, next start at "home"!):

0-1, 7.32, 4 starts, 19 2/3 innings, 24 hits, 16 ER, 7 BB, 14 Ks

Lou Trivino (maybe he is fixed):

1-1, 1.00, 11 games, 5 games finished, 9 innings, 7 hits, 1 ER, 5 BB, 1 HBP, 7 Ks.

Scott Effross (on DL):

0-0, 3.24, 8 games, 2 games finished, 1 save, 8 1/3 innings, 7 hits, 3 ER, 2 BB, 8 Ks.

Jordy, we barely knew thee.

If only we had a quality starting pitcher like Jordan Montgomery....

There are no words.

Montgomery, you say?

Cashman had other ideas in mind.

That's because our GM is:

Pompous

Soulless

Careless

Dangerous

Worthless

we suck

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Mr. bit,

I beg to disagree. *WE* don't suck. The Cashole (tm) sucks. Worse than the guy using a hot dog as a straw.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

AA,

You are too kind in your evaluation of the Cashole (tm).

Enjoy the game without being sleep deprived, like us poor schmucks.

Lol Rufus, too funny

I just went to turn on the game. It does start for another hour! WTF! And we have a whole week of this shit.

Luckily this team isn’t worth staying up for.

Roof UST- Ff

You should have seen my first draft.

WOOOOOOW- was it ever "Nasty"

I usetah live in the east bay back in the days when you could still head over to the ballpark on the day that tickets went sale and be one of the first in line to purchase A's tickets For a few years you could get front row, field level behind the visitors dugout for $38/$48 each against the Yankees.

For Sunday's game I had to spend weeks hunting and skinning wild animals in the hills behind my home and sell their pelts to raise enough cash to go to just one game (on Sunday).

My wife suggested that I use the credit card instead BUT I have my honor as a Yankee fan living in Northern California to maintain.

Times sure have changed in these parts.

For some reason the song Davey Crockett is an earworm for me right now.

Anyway, glad that your pelt hunting worked out. Watch out for the wildfires. They can really scorch your ass...

That's why the teach you to run towards them instead of away from them

If I can get a photo of Judge blowing raspberries at a framed picture of Cashman - or any other worthy photos I'll email them to ElDuqOK for possible inclusion in a - uh, morning after post.

JM,

Would that be Hicks or Donaldson on the current team?

Is Rocky still alive?

Maybe Oswaldo?

Alive, but not in the best of health apparently:

There shall be fury tonight.

They say you can never have enough pitching - unless you’re Brian Cashman, in which case you can never have enough injured outfielders.

This Cobblepot kid might end up being fairly good.

Let's hope the geniuses don't fuck up his swing explaining launch angle and exit velocity to him.

Wow, a small ball rally.

The ANALytical a-holes must be puckering right now.

In NH, Kaprielian is a local hero.

Can't help but think they're related.

IFK. Say his initials.

My night is done. Small ball works. Glass man gets a single. I'm old and tired.

More knocking down trees tomorrow.

Taillon seems to at peak suck

Rufus - Before you head off to bed - remember this.

Tonight when you're in your third pass at REM sleep - and you see the miniature pony coming towards you through the billowing dust cloud, answer your flip phone.

The one in your rear left pocket.

It will be me with a final score update from tonight's game.

Ignore the pizza delivery guy trying to give you the free breadsticks - they're old and moldy.

TheWinWarblist said...

Miniature pony: clip clop, clip clop.

ranger_lp said...

Well this looks a little better…

TheWinWarblist said...

Kaprielian is gassed. He has nothing tonight and has already throw a pant-load of pitches in high stress situations.

Parson Tom said...

Thank God the Yankees traded Kaprielian. He's be in the Joey Gallo Fan Favorite section.

TheWinWarblist said...

86 pitches but only 48 strikes. That's a lot of work for 2 and 2/3.

Is it too early for "You could have turned off your TV set right there..."?

Tomato can. So tomato 🍅

Josh looked old there.

Taillon is struggling with this ketchup squad.

The A’s look more like garbage can than tomato.

Michael Kay is shilling for Chapman - “a great opportunity to get his confidence back.”

That’s never going to happen.

Head cases rarely come back.

JM said...

Doesn't 10-0 trigger the mercy rule?

AboveAverage said...

No JM - its 15- 0

TheWinWarblist said...

That's a lot of crooked numbers. G'night Commentariat. Good night.

AboveAverage said...

and Michael Kay will shill for anyone depending on the memo slapped into his greasy paws

feel better WINNY!

golly - you east coast FRIENDS are indeed sleepy

I'll second that.

Sears pitching for Oakland tomorrow. Dumb move getting rid of him.

AboveAverage said...

agreed JM - he was a gamer

I'm in Phoenix waiting for our flight home to NYC. Been up since 5 and drove from Palm Springs.... pretty darn tired, too.

hope your wife is on the mend!

HoraceClarke66 said...

Kaprielian had actually been pitching well, lowering his ERA from 7 something a game to 4, over the past couple months.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Donaldson ALWAYS looks old. Just now, he almost managed to injure himself while also misplaying a routine grounder. Of course, roundball right to him was ruled a hit. Major-league scoring is now officially ridiculous. A roundball right to you that you boot is an error, I don't care how hard it is hit.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Not that it matters, but yet another pitcher—an obscure reliever—whose constant, inside sliders keep baffling the home plate ump. Or maybe he just wants to go home.

In any case, I have to say that I'm leaning heavily to the "computerize balls and strikes" argument these days. Even in a 10-0 game, it's annoying to see an ump keep calling strikes on balls that aren't in the strike zone and cannot be hit. If they really can't follow the ball anymore, fuck 'em.

AboveAverage said...

Josh is what he is. I don't want him on my team. Who would at this point in his career. It would take someone that's really not in touch with what's available in the league to acquire him. C A S H M A N. anyone?

JM said...

Thanks, AA.

What a depressing dump the OACC looks like just now. I've seen games there, and they had a sort of crazy, Thunderdome feel to them. Now it just looks empty and forlorn.

The Yankees might still be able to pull this one out . . .

HoraceClarke66 said...

Giancarlo Stanton
Andruw Jones
Alex Rodriguez
Cecil Fielder
Johnny Mize

The answer, I believe, to tonight's trivia question.

HoraceClarke66 said...

13-1. Hmm, Chapman time? I dunno. Still too close?

HoraceClarke66 said...

Hey, whatever happened to "Moneyball"? I mean, isn't that supposed to be the advantage of having the genius, Billy Beane? That you don't ever have to rebuild? You just get by with all those 3TO masters?

HoraceClarke66 said...

Weissert first Fordham player on the Yanks since Fireman Johnny Murphy. May be the last, too.

HoraceClarke66 said...

So the kid may have just been a victim of nerves, or he may not have it. Who knows? It won't matter much this year.

But the idea Luetge getting any big outs? Man, this guys is awful. He can't put away terrible hitters with an 11-run lead. Can't wait to see him in the postseason.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Excuse me, this GUY, singular, is awful. Though actually, Luetge is bad enough for two pitchers.
