One last thought about Tampa Bay

John and Suzyn hate the relentless sound system in Tropicana Dome. But the guy in charge of the music showed one stroke of genius:

When Girardi came out to change pitchers, they played, "Hey Joe (Where you goin' with that gun in your hand?)"

Had to laugh.

RE: stadium sound systems.

One of my favorite Yankee Stadium memories is the time the entire sound system failed. The amp must have exploded or something. At first, the fans were confused but then, slowly, they started to actually pay close attention to the game. This went on for the entire duration of the game (3 or 4 innings). It was glorious.

Yes, they do make their displeasure very clear. About once an inning, I'd say.

Perhaps a good thread to start -- it can even be one of those ones that exists in the margins of the IIH home page that gets added to over time -- would be a catalog of Things that J&S Hate.

The list starts with:

1) The relentless sound system in Tropicana Dome.

2) The distance of the broadcast booth from the field at Nationals Park.

3) The Wave.

4) (please add)

not taking advantage of the shift...

Sir Ken of Brooklyn:

I know this discussion has moved elsewhere, but I need to say that I LOL'd when I saw "not taking advantage of the shift". Yeah, I'd say John hates it. Just a little... :)
