Are They Still Playing Basketball and Hockey?

C'mon everyone.

It is nearly summer and the TV stations are still playing games that began in September?

Hockey is a winter sport and so is basketball, except for the asphalt playgrounds of inner cities.

Stop the madness.

Organize your life and watch baseball, while you barbecue spam in the back yard ( or front ).

Eat salty chips and swig Colas with Jack Daniels in paper goblets.  Invitre your cousins over for some family romance.

Listen to the game if you can't get a clear picture on the tube.

Do it all.

But the time for basketball and hockey has long since passed.

Help.

Judging from last nights basketball game, the Cleveland NBA team is also ready for the season to end.

Was a great game, until the end.

This is the trouble with having an ex-Knick on your team. And I just loved the smugness of the Warriors, their preening over a win they were handed first by the refs, and then by J.R. Smith.

What is this "Basketball and Hockey" of which you speak? Is this some magic JuJu incantation to buoy the bats of the Bore Four?

Sonny pitches to Machado and he hits a home run. At what point do we even bother turning the game on when he pitches? He is, never thought I'd say this, worse than Javy Vasquez.

It's like Machado is auditioning for his next starring role. But, also, let us not forget, Sunny's control is shit. He could have wanted that pitch two feet outside.

Nothing Sunny threw to Mancini was remotely near the plate. Except for the second to last pitch in that sequence. Which should have been hit hard.

Hey, funny thing, Romine has racked up 1.0 WAR in 60 PA. The Mighty Sanchez has nearly 200 PA and an equally mighty 1.1 WAR to go with 8 passed balls (which are tied for the AL lead).
Who's the starter? And why?

Leinstery said...

True, Sunny is generally inept in everything. Romine, deserves a shot at starting for a couple of weeks.

Bases loaded no outs, no runs scored. Classic Yankees.

OK. I hate to betray my (mostly Sicilian) heritage, and be an Optimist.

But I just checked the MLB standings. Houston's record is 36-22.

With the NYYs, the Stros are 2-and-5.

Vs. the rest of the league: 34-17.

Optimistic point of view -- this means something.

How does Gleyber lose a shoe?? Is this beer league slow pitch?

John just called Bird's triple in order "Gone, over the wall for a two run hr....nope Jones caught that and throws in and Bird has a triple." What? I love this coot but these are the moments when I have to find a highlight to figure out what the hell happened.

You know what was the most shocking thing about Sonny's outing tonight? He didn't hit 80 pitches until the 6th inning. He's usually there 3 pitches into the 4th.

I predict that Sonny will pitch a no-hitter or a one-hitter at some point in the next five games. Boonie will struggle over whether to pull him in the 8th, after 108 pitches, but he'll leave him in. We may or may not win the game, but then the realization will sink in that we will have to keep him forever after that. Shortly afterwards, he'll get hit in the nuts by a broken bat and will go out for the season.

12 hits, 4 runs. They deserve to have Betances shit this game away.

Toonces driving me crazy!

Leinstery said...

You want to talk crazy? I just saw something crazy that happened Wednesday in Oakland. Eovaldi threw 6 no hit innings for the Rays on 70 pitches and was only lifted because they don't want his glass arm to break for the infinite time. As if that wasn't strange enough, THE Brigadoon hit a 3R HR in that game.

Saw the highlights and Sonny looked great, hitting his spots.

Only thing: his velocity seemed really low, at least according to the figures they were flashing.

Still, we'll take it, we'll take it!

(Another nothing game from Scranton, by the by.)
