Line of the day

"Cano? No way. If we sign him and Machado plus Sanchez we might as well move the franchise to Yonkers because all we'll have are trotters."

MORE BAD NEWS GUYS....

WE JUST RELEASED "BIG TOE".

I GUESS HE DIDN'T FIT THE COOP MOLD OF BEING A SUB- .230 HITTER ALONG WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO HIT IN THE CLUTCH.

TOE COULD.

PARKER BRIDWELL TAKES HIS PLACE.

WHOEVER THE HELL THAT IS.

SO FAR, THIS OFF-SEASON HAS BEEN A DISASTER.

Say it ain't so, Toe!

As someone who grew up in Yonkers, I have no problem with anybody here completely trashing the place. I must point out, though, that the Raceway no longer exists.

13Bit,

It's gone? I thought they added a card room or something. What's there now?

That is a great line, Doug K.

And the Raceway is gone??? Hell, that's where I had my bachelor's party.

Yes, Toe is gone. But hey, Parker Bridwell was 10-3, with a 3.64 ERA.

Uh, in 2017, that is. Last year he had arm surgery, and won one game.

Wow, what a pickup!

Hoss,

Re: Bachelor party. That's great. Mine was at Hollywood Park in LA. Same general idea. They also had live Sumo wrestling that night.

In case anyone has forgotten this bit of trivia, just before they Yankees extorted money from NYC to keep the Yankees where they are, two alternate sites for a new stadium were considered: the NJ Meadowlands and the Yonkers Raceway land.

Here's another one. It was sold to MGM recently and was previously owned by the Rooneys

I believe its the NYG Rooneys.

Yeah, my pals even had them name a race for me. I bet every horse in it, to make sure I had a winner!

It was a lucky night, my guys were hitting combinations all over the place. Sad the place is gone.

My Yonkers-induced PTSD is too strong and precludes me from continuing with this discussion. I’m going to rest and hope to return to some degree of equilibrium by tomorrow.
