Now, they hate us because we chanted "Uber"

Being a Yankee fan is like running for office: Not matter what you do, the other side is going to hate you.

You can live a clean life. You can help the poor. You can give up meat. It doesn't matter. They're going to hate you. They'll cook up something.

Today, they hate Yankee fans for chanting "Uber" while that Twins pitcher was on the mound. Actually, I thought it was rather funny. The fans learned enough about the guy to personalize their chant, instead of just booing or yelling garden variety obscenities. In a way, it was almost a tribute. Did they hurt his feelings? I doubt it. I bet he thought it was funny. Did they hurt the feelings of Uber drivers? My guess is that a few in that crowd are Uber drivers. They were probably Ubering the loudest.

Oh, well, they hate us. Used to be, they hated us because the Yankees always won. That thought we were spoiled, piggish, crude, obnoxious, loudmouthed jerks - when nothing could be further from the truth. We understood why they were doing it: To playfully rib us, the way people call a bald man "curly" or a 300-pounder "tiny." As a result, it was fun to inspire such theatrical enmity. These days, nobody can rightfully hate us for winning too much. So they have to come up with something. Uber. Go figure.

They're just trying anything they can to drum up righteous outrage, umbrage and, in a word, spirit, from their team of limp dicks.

On this one I'm going to have to side with President Nixon, who tweeted: "Don't go after a man for being poor, or after his mother."

I wonder if the reaction would've been different if they chanted "Lyft."

They should have played Prince's "Lady Cab Driver"

We could lead a sing-along of "Yankees, Yankees über Alles."

After PHI goalie Pelle Lindbergh was killed in a car wreck while driving his Porsche 911 turbo in the 80’s, his replacement Ron Hextall said NY Rangers fans used to chant ‘Hextall buy a Porsche’ over and over again. Said it never bothered him. That’s part of the deal when you’re a pro athlete.

The point is, there much worse being hurled at athletes than chanting ‘Uber’. This overly sensitive bullshit world we live in now will make a mountain out of a mole hill for click bait.

Also, if the Twins pitcher had shut us down, all over the media today would be “Uber Driver Shuts Down Yankees”.

@Unknown...Denis Potvin was also a recipient of that chant..."Buy a Porsche Potvin buy a Porsche!"

I remember being at the Stadium the first time Pedro started after his "who's your daddy" interview. It was kind of spine-chilling to hear one side of the stadium chant "WHO'S your DADdy" and have the other side respond in kind. Over and over and over.

I thought that they were chanting "Gruber, Gruber." I was thinking Kelly Gruber was in the stands and they were chanting for him because they where so bored with the game being a total blowout.

I didn't love it...but then, I admit to liking it when they chanted "Over-rated!" and "Say-o-nara!" during the ALCS in 2001.

It wasn't right. But it showed that the city had some spirit back.

THIS IS THE WORLD WE LIVE IN TODAY...

EVERYTHING IS DEEMED OFFENSIVE.

CHRISTMAS SONGS, UBER CHANTS, MANHOLE COVERS, ILLEGAL ALIENS.

(I THINK THAT JUST COST ME $250 DOLLARS).

THERE ARE A LOT OF VOICES SHOUTING OUT, BUT IT SHOULDN'T MEAN THEY SHOULD GET THEIR WAY ALL THE TIME.

C'MON YANKS.

STRAIGHTEN THIS FUCKING COUNTRY OUT.
