From ESPN:

Aaron Judge (57 HR) now has 20 more homers than anyone else in MLB (Kyle Schwarber, 37).

It's the first time a player will finish a calendar day with a 20+ HR lead since the last day of the 1928 season when Babe Ruth led Jim Bottomley and Hack Wilson by 23 homers.

I still don't know who Harry Styles is or why he's famous. My sister said he was in One Direction or something, a dimly remembered boy singing group.

Obviously, he's gone beyond that, but he's a mystery to me. As are most celebrities nowadays.

I know who Lady Gaga is. That's about it.

Who know? Harry Styles could be the next Michael Buble.

If not, he could be the new spokesperson for Super Cuts…

Michael Kay took his daughter to see Harry Styles at MSG the other night. He mentioned that it was a great show. I'm not a No Direction fan so I can't speak about him...

JM...I've heard his name but have no idea who Harry Styles is or what he's famous for. But it sounds like a great name for a fashion designer.

Also, The Martian just got promoted to AA Somerset. If they don't re-sign Judge, my bet is that he makes the Yankees opening day '23 roster in hopes he can become Judge junior.

Yes, I too am at that age when I have not even heard of most of the folks the young people talk about today. Ahh, at last!

(Also, I still call people "folks.")

Good, most of ya'll have never heard of Harry Styles either. I was wondering if I was supposed to know who the hell Harry Styles is.

He’s a fairly mediocre, but undeniably popular singer, who appeals mostly to younger females. He’s being compared to the young Sinatra, which is a stretch. His music is more like a less spiritual, more modernized version of Van Morrison. TBH, his music is better than most of what gets churned out these days. My sense is he will have staying power and adapt. So will Jason Dominguez. (Obligatory BB tie-in)

I know of him only because a cousin's teenage daughter came to New York to see him perform recently.

The day before, the cousin and daughter said they wanted to look around some, go eat Italian. I took them downtown, started off by showing them where their grandfather/great-grandfather worked on the Curb Market—when it was literally on the curb. They could not have been less interested—but every time a dog came by, they gushed all over it. The niece expressed the wish that she could work in a dog kennel someday.

They did say they wanted to see the Ground Zero museum, and the memorial at St. Paul's–but they had not brought their fax info, so they could not get into either. I was about to suggest something else—the view from the Brooklyn Bridge, the incredible mosaic lobby of the Woolworth Building, Chinatown—when they spotted a clothing chain store, and rushed in there.

After that, they had a reservation—to appear in a Peloton studio shoot. I was not surprised when they called and canceled for dinner at the beloved old Village eatery I had made reservations at. But hey, they saw Harry Styles.

New York, one discovers early on, is not for everybody.

@Hoss, "They could not have been less interested—but every time a dog came by, they gushed all over it. The niece expressed the wish that she could work in a dog kennel someday."

Work in a dog kennel? Ewww! And people gushing over dogs, yeah, that appears to be the latest modern craze. Sad!
