Are You Serious???

The rumor is clear.

Sonny starts a game on Saturday, in Baltimore.

The cupcake team is going to eat us.

Fans are expressing their confidence through and on all social media:

Sonny Gray.

Editor's note;  I had so little confidence in this team, when it was healthy, that I predicted 85 wins.  If they win only 6 more, I get the prize.

With Sonny back in the starting rotation, and Chance Adams showing his mettle, I am feeling pretty confident.

And I am not worried that our slugger, Gary ( Jesus) Sanchez is about to begin a re-hab assignment.  There are ice cream sandwiches everywhere.

And Bird is 0-12 with five K's against two cupcake teams, and batting .202 on the year.

Didi is down.  Monty is out.  Chapman is down.  Frazier is out. Judge is down.  CC is out.

Robbie is resting.  Tyler Wade can't hit.  Neal Walker is our hot bat, along with Andujar.

Gardy is tired.  Hicks is banged up.  Sevvy is inconsistent.

Our back -up right fielder is sad.  Cashman has screwed up royally.

Boone doesn't manage anything.

He talks a good enough game to win 85.

Enjoy the day off.

Sonny goes on Saturday.

Don't worry! Sonny is always better on the road.

Better don't mean good. So he get's shelled in the 4th instead of the 1st. :)

I can hear Ma Boone now: "Just give me three good ones, Sonny-Bunny - - just three....cleverly planning, from the get-go, to get FIVE from him, all along. LB (No J)

My prediction was 87. It’s on record. Check the videotape.

Sadly, Doug K., Dr. Bogodan and the other JuJu deities are much better than that at torturing us.

I suspect that Sonny will dazzle those O's, holding them to, oh, three runs or so in five innings, and striking out lots of people. The stories the next day will be full of hopeful quotes from Ma and his teammates about how Sonny has turned the corner, how he's really back now.

That will all last until his next home start...

I predicted...ahem, heh-heh...112.

Did I say the YANKEES would win 112? I meant the Red Sox, the RED SOX, everybody knows that!

But here's the kicker: it still wouldn't be ALL that hard for this team to get itself together, just a little bit, when all the walking wounded return and win 100 games.

That would just reinforce the Coops narrative, no matter how they did in the playoffs: 'Oh, gosh darn, lookit they still won a hundred games even with all those injuries!! Think what they'll do next year, when Bird's ankle has had more time to heal!'

All the awfulness that went on will be zipped down the memory hole.

He has a 3.43 ERA on the road and 0.75 ERA in two starts at Camden Yards. As long as it's just for the double header (i.e. he never makes another home start this season) I'm OK with it.

Also if the Yankees only win 6 more games this year I'll eat my hat. They're having a genuinely good season with the usual ups and downs. Unfortunately Boston is having one of the best seasons ever with seemingly no downs.

I can't even remember how many wins I predicted. Depression will do that.

John, your memory will improve when there are about two games left in the season, and that prize ( cadillac car?) beckons. Or maybe it was a banged up truck behind someone's barn in Iowa.

I can't remember.

Duque knows.
