They can be heroes, just for one day.

Fucking Marwin again. Jesus.

Doug K. said...

JM - that's because they DFA'd the big 1B who looked like the love child of Stanton and Gio Urshela.

I guess the ducking and barely trotting while grounding into a key double play was what did it.

Shortest leash ever.

Well at least Boone is going with the , "Wrecking Balls" (his term), at the top of the lineup.

RizzO is five/6 days away

Andujar, El Matador, now has as many hits, homers, and RBI in September as Torres has.

He has TWICE as many hits as Giancarlo has. And the same number of home runs, even though Miggy hit his off one of the league's leading pitchers, and Stanton hit one off a moonlighting catcher.

Brian Cashman is an idiot. But you knew that!

JM said...

They DFAed Guzman? I'm surprised. He's a former big leaguer and not only was hitting in Scranton, he's working on also pitching. That's some short leash, alright.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Hoss,

I'm going to start calling you Captain Obvious if you keep it up.

Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside said...

Any hint when game will start? Right now mlb at bay is playing a Giants pregame lol

JM said...

It's not raining here, but there's a chance of rain until 6 or so. Why they don't just play is beyond me. Their weather service is notably lousy.

Doug K. said...

Yeah , guzman is guz-gone. I would have kept him as a late inning defensive sub. He's a good 1B (and an actual 1B)

Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside said...

The game will start at 3:20. Plenty of time for a nap.

HoraceClarke66 said...

YES just went to other programming, but promises to update us about if and when the game will start.

It's the usual fan torture. The rain delay has already gone on for an hour-and-a-half, but the fans are just supposed to wait and see if they're going to see anyone play.

I'm hoping that hell will include a rain delay for baseball and TV executives (and they'll all be there). A rain delay that last maybe 250 years.

Handy walks and crappy AtBat is still playing Giants pregame.

Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside said...

How am k supposed to turn off a game in disgust I can’t even turn on?

JM said...

Gleyber Day!!!!

Doug K. said...

Micheal Kay, "So once again the Wrecking balls get on"

Oh and apparently it's Gleyber Day!

JM said...

Three run shot. Nice.

AboveAverage said...

Yay!

Doug K. said...

Karmicly speaking: Doesn't calling Judge and Stanton "The Wrecking Balls" invite a groin injury?

AboveAverage said...

Did I miss something with out starting pitcher?

Ken of Brooklyn said...

Yes, why did German leave after the first inning,,, I can't get the radio feed LOL

Doug K. said...

He was starting on 3 days rest. It was probably his throwing day so he did it in a game instead of on the sideline but it was only one inning.

JM said...

Gonna be a long game. Boone is "managing."

AboveAverage said...

But only 14 pitches?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Ken of Brooklyn said...

Thanks Doug! OYE, now it's Weissert, it's not going to be pretty

AboveAverage said...

It will be interesting

Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside said...

Ken- mlb just changed to baseball feed. You can listen now.

JM said...

Stanton!

JM said...

The Glass Giant comes through.

ranger_lp said...

Every time Gleyber comes up to bat my wife says “clitoris is up”…

ranger_lp said...

Torres!!!

Back to back a belly to belly…

Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside said...

And we ALL LOVE CLITORIS! (Though some not exclusively)

Doug K. said...

Ranger,

Why?

ranger_lp said...

Ray’s bullpen showing exhaustion…

ranger_lp said...

I guess Torres sounds like cli-TOR-es

ranger_lp said...

Cabrera!!!

ranger_lp said...

What’s the John call?

Stang said...

"Oswaldo! The Wizard of Oz! He homers to right!"

ranger_lp said...

Tnx

Only rain will beat the Yankees today…

Ken of Brooklyn said...

OH NO> I missed the Wizard of OZ call!!!!!!!

ranger_lp said...

I guess the rain won’t beat them now that it was mentioned…

JM said...

Yesterday and today are like the first half of the season. Another tease?

Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside said...

John and Suzyn are rooting for rain. They must have dinner plans.

JM said...

The Giants are in midseason form. Down 10-0 and Jones just coughed up a fumble getting sacked. Looks like an imminent Tennessee score.

Publius said...

Suzyn's Star- her weather app

JM said...

I've never seen so many dink hits by a team. Tampa isn't exactly tagging the ball.

TheWinWarblist said...

I just tuned into the game. What team is this?

JM said...

'61 Yankees

HoraceClarke66 said...

Wait, nobody told me there was a Peralta-Peralta showdown.

Peralta won.

HoraceClarke66 said...

How is it we cannot hit Ryan Yarborough, but everybody else in baseball can?

Inquiring minds want to know!

BTR999 said...

Giants took too much time on last play of the half and missed out on A FG opportunity

Tennessee 13, Giants 0 at the half

JM said...

That's our Jints.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Both NYC baseball teams scored at least much as the Jets today.

Shaping up to be another terrific fall in the Big Apple.

HoraceClarke66 said...

TD by Barkley, who is running amok today.

And...Giants blow the snap on the PAT.

Incredible, your leading running back has nearly 120 yards, your QB is 9-11...and you have 6 points, well into the third quarter.

As for the Jets, they have not won a September game since 2018.

JM said...

Go Knicks.

BTR999 said...

2 big plays have the Giants tied

JM said...

That was some bomb to Shepard.

JM said...

Holmes is not the Holmes who won the closer role. That's kind of a problem.

JM said...

10-4, good buddy.

HoraceClarke66 said...

THUUUUUHHHHHHH....

AboveAverage said...

Do you think the rain will hurt the rhubarb?

Kevin said...

Well, our lads took the series against the invincible, young, and athletic Rays. Showing backbone when it looked like they might collapse. Or did we just catch a glimpse of a Yankee team straight from Brigadoon?

Kevin said...

BTW, any news of German?

BTR999 said...

Going for two by the Giants was the ballsiest call since christ left Chicago. Can they hold on?

HoraceClarke66 said...

Oh, rain is always good for the farmers, AA. My mother used to tell me so.

HoraceClarke66 said...

I'll say, 999! LOVE to see that—and it seemed to really jack the team up.

BTR999 said...

My mother used to tell me “Close your mouth, you’re catching flies”. ….unlike Hicks

HoraceClarke66 said...

IF...and it's a huge if...but IF Giancarlo and Gleyber suddenly start to hit again, AND the pitching stays more or less stabilized, AND we get Rizzo back in good shape...this team might surprise people. Such as me.

Of course, the real key is Tots Bader!

HoraceClarke66 said...

Ahh, zebras seem bent on taking the game away from the Jints.

BTR999 said...

HO LEE FUK!

The Giants win! Where’s John Sterling?

Doug K. said...

The GIIIIIIIIIIANTS WIN!

That was incredible. The balls on Dabol! The effort of Barkley. Truly great!

ranger_lp said...

Giants won?

Carl J. Weitz said...

Very ballsy move by Dabol. I didn't agree with it but..

The Titan kicker pulled a Scott Norwood. It would have been another Giants find a way to lose ending.

JM said...

I didn't see it. A win? Incredible.

AboveAverage said...

Born to Run:

Your Mother followed Hicks on Facebook?

BTR999 said...

AA, My mom was a strident Irish woman who made the Maureen O’Hara character in The Quiet Man look like Cinderella. She didn’t suffer fools gladly, or at all for that matter. She would’ve halted Hicks more than any of us do.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

BTR,

Are you secretly Johnny Dangerously?

Or just little Johnny Kelly?

AboveAverage said...

My mom was the same way - exactly.

Too bad they couldn’t be running the Yankees

HoraceClarke66 said...

Not a Jints fan—but what a gutsy move by their coach! I'd like to trade his balls for Boone's.

Metaphorically speaking.

TheWinWarblist said...

Hoss, not metaphorically. Actually. Balls of Steel transplant. We have the technology.

Parson Tom said...

So they just let McCullers of the hook. Prepare for 8 innings of relentless ineptitude.
