Anyone watch the Yankees Yesterday?

We were shut-out.  We had no ability to deliver, to come through, to score.

That is impotence.  At every turn.

Egregious and embarrassing failure whenever the opportunity presented itself.  It is like the moment when you  finally meet a nubile, infatuated, available and interested beauty.  The timing is right.  It is just you and her in a private moment, in a private space.

And what did the Yankees do?  All day long?  They simply unzipped and came up limp. Left all the base runners on, scratching themselves, and wondering, "why am I here?"  These guys are a bunch of duds.

It got so bad, you could predict the strikeouts before they happened.

Here comes Ryan James Murphy (he hit better as RJ ) with a chance to solidify his spot on the team;  strike one ( lame swing), strike two looking, strike three ( swinging, at a ball in the dirt ).

My favorite young dude, Jake Cave, saunters up with a hot batting average over .400. What does he do with this perfect opportunity to solidify his reputation and prospects?  He has the most lame at bat of the spring;  a huge miss on a ball in the dirt; a good look at a sweet, pulsing fastball down the middle,  capped by another flail in the dirt at what should have been ball two.  Seriously, a blind poet would have let two of those three go by for a 2-1 count.  A blind poet would have find a way to score.

The Yankees, flush with opportunities,  just kept striking out.

are we at the point where our most potent offensive threat could be a disgraced 40 year old with bad hips?

Yep. It takes a reverse Midas to craft a team less inspiring than last year's,,,,, I'm so dreading this season!

I (of course) have no data to back this up, but I can't imagine any other team comes anywhere near the Yankees in terms of leaving runners on base.

This reminds me...the upside to this team is the fact that so many are so old and so easily sidelined. It's a fact I keep forgetting in my fan misery. By June, we may well have a lineup featuring exciting if flawed prospects from our burgeoning farm system, while all the big-money stars are sitting in the trainer's room waiting for their turn in the jacuzzi.

Oh, wait. It's the Yankees. They'll just go buy a bunch of even worse aging galoots to take the "stars'" places. Crap.

Never mind.
