Luis is gone for the year. TJ surgery.
What a shock. All last season they took the " rest and do nothing " approach. Same with the off-season.
Why did the fans all know last year? Why did we say, "do the surgery now and gain a year."
Now the brilliant Yankee decision-makers waste:
$10 million last year
$10 million this year
And by the time he is ready to pitch again ( in late 2021 at best ) ; he will have to be re-signed. And the Yankees will let him walk to Boston, where he will become a reliable super star.
And no one is going to "pay a price " for this idiotic management of a key resource?
Cashman still gets to rappel down buildings and bang waitresses in Tennessee?
Nothing happens? No accountability?
Oh that's right. He works for Hal.

These things happen. Though in this case it probably happened from overpitching. But let's face it: if the Yankees had simply looked reality in the face then, and said 'Something is very, very wrong with Luis Severino,' possibly he is back right now and fit as a fiddle.
Possibly not. Most guys DON'T really come back from TJ surgery, despite the hype. But now, yes, we won't even know until 2022, a lifetime from now.

Ah, the days of King George and the Bronx madhouse seem to be very pleasant memories compared to this reign of Prince Hal, who is stylistically diametrically opposite to his dad. All of these clowns like Cashman would've been canned a very long time ago if King George were still running the show. But now we've embraced the "do nothing" approach with Prince Hal. There's got to be a happy medium.
It must be a heavenly job to work for the Prince, knowing that no matter how bad you fuck up, that no matter how many times you fuck up, you won't get fired. Cashman is living up to his name; this guy is living right, that's for sure. As someone said, climbing buildings, banging waitresses in Tennessee, making every blunder you never thought was possible, yet getting paid big time. Some guys have all the luck, to quote Rod Stewart.
