Again - this lineup is an absolute revelation.

A miracle of advanced intelligence and innovative analytics.

A few days ago I blamed the I Ching coin tossing front office monkeys bickering somewhere in the candle lit, subterranean levels of Yankee Stadium.

But this time - THIS TIME its clear that Boone took lead on crafting this masterpiece.

I'm just quivering in silence at the super genius the helms our judge'rnaut of power (thank god I can still type)

Little white pockets off sonic energy are exploding in my brain now, chanting:

COLE!

COLE!

COLE!

COLE!

(maybe I shouldn't have cancelled my Monday morning appointment with my neurologist)

I fear Shortuve will get his first playoffs hit today, likely in the first inning, and the gates of hell will swing open - dogs and cats, dead frogs from the sky, rivers of blood, horsemen and all that shit.

Doug K. said...

Boone is a vindictive shit.

When asked how Bader didn't know he was leading off (Bader he of the most productive Yankee) Boone said:

Bryan Hoch
@BryanHoch
Boone was asked about a miscommunication with Harrison Bader not knowing he was leading off in Game 2. Boone said that every player is sent the lineup when finalized. Some are more diligent about checking it than others.

So now he's moved down and a guy (Rizzo) who doesn't like leading off is... wait for it... leading off.

Keep yer composure Cole.

Stay dialed in, Sir.

BTR999 said...

Over the last month or so, Judge has been consistently missing the balls he was tattooing

BTR999 said...

Javier dominated us that inning

JM said...

True, BTR. Troubling.

One strikeout and two pop ups around home plate. A flying start.

JM said...

What the fuck? Bader and Judge doing that? Christ.

JM said...

Judge should have got the error there. CF gets priority.

AboveAverage said...

Words. Of. Wisdom.

AboveAverage said...

And there it is

And there it goes

Doug K. said...

An error and then a HR. What a shocker! He should have done the throwing over to first thing.

AboveAverage said...

Yep Doug True

Platoni said...

Call it an early year, Bosch

BTR999 said...

We have owned a lead in this series for exactly 1/2 of an inning

BTR999 said...

How could Carpenter give up on that pitch with 2 strikes???

Hinkey Haines said...

Regarding Carpenter: This is just cruel.

Publius said...

Cole throws a meatball that lands in seats following a defensive miscue. Pregame Vegas odds on that were negative.

Hinkey Haines said...

John Greenleaf Whittier wrote, “Of all sad words of tongue or pen / the saddest are these: It might have been!”

He was mistaken. The saddest words of tongue or pen are “Now batting, Josh Donaldson.”

BTR999 said...

Don-old-son

Doug K. said...

Hinkey - Nice!

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Hinkey, you are quite the wordsmith.

Joe of AZ said...

Boone is a GENIUS!!! This lineup is putting on a fuckin CLINIC!!!!

Platoni said...

They've only struck out three times in three innings. If this holds Boone will talk about progress after the game

Doug K. said...

That little kids knows. He's watching bad baseball.

BTR999 said...

Pathetic AB by Judge.
Early no-hitter warning flag is out

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Doug,

He hasn't had that advanced ANALytics class in gradeschool yet.

BTR999 said...

Take that flag down

AboveAverage said...

Strike out ARD!

AboveAverage said...

H!

Doug K. said...

THat pitch to Altuve was 6 inches above the ground... so, belt high.

Ken of Brooklyn said...

Suzyn is disgusted by Donaldson (" they were giving it to you")!

JM said...

Suzyn is on to something there.

AboveAverage said...

Caught Stealing is Hard

Platoni said...

Pathetic

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Platoni,

Respectfully, pathetic would be an upgrade

JM said...

Ace looks miffed.

Hinkey Haines said...

This is actually smart managing by Boone. Gotta make sure as fresh as possible for Game 7.

Doug K. said...

3-0 might as well be 30-0. This team is toast.

Ken of Brooklyn said...

5-0. That's all folks

Hinkey Haines said...

Only way the Yankees stave off a sweep is if Cortes gives up a negative number of runs tomorrow.

Again gentlemen thanks for the kind words on my return to this blog

Im still not 100% and watching this farce of shamble (omnishables we call it here) I dont want to return to hospital again with a ruptured spleen

The worst thng of all is if we lose this series 4-0 they will polis a turd and say oh we were one series away from the World Series which we all know is absolute bollocks

As I understand it the Yankees dont display pennant flags like every other team does
Winnng the World Series or it is considered a poor season

I dont know what the answer is the press seem to go very easy on our manager and Cashman they should be tearing shreads off them for only 1 world series win since 2009

Ayway I hope something good happens in the rest of the game and ut us 17 minutes past midnight and I am too tired and weak to watch the rest of this joke play out

I wish you all well

TheWinWarblist said...

Scottish. What took you so long?

BTR999 said...

Inexcusable AB by Judge, who has turned into Josh Donaldson. Next stop Galloville.

Get this and tomorrow over quickly, but I just can’t stand the idea of Boone and Cashman coming back for another year. Can’t fucking stomach it.

AboveAverage said...

Ugly is as Ugly does.

There appears to be no cure for these (our) Yankees :(

AboveAverage said...

Boone blows seeds from his pie hole better than he manages

AboveAverage said...

Try protecting the plate, Gleyber!

AboveAverage said...

Carpenter is just gassed - such a shame

AboveAverage said...

(I’m just trying to provide content here as everyone else has exited this painful experience)

AboveAverage said...

I think that Cashman and Hal should grab a bat and hit next inning

AboveAverage said...

Castro on the mound- what (else) could go wrong

Gary Frenay said...

Please make it stop. Can we forfeit game 4?!

AboveAverage said...

Nope it’s gotta go the distance

HoraceClarke66 said...

They simply cannot compete against a first-rate pitching staff. And, barring a miracle, now 10 straight games with 6 or fewer hits.

Pathetic, indeed.

But it's not even worth saying pathetic about. It's the same old, same old, completely predictable and depressing. This could just as well be the Detroit series in 2012, or Texas in 2010, or last year's single-game playoff appearance.

Awful.

Joe of AZ said...

If the Yankees were gonna play like this they should have stayed home

AboveAverage said...

Bloody awful

AboveAverage said...

Oh Donaldson is up!

Yay!

AboveAverage said...

Locastro running for Donaldson?

No?

AboveAverage said...

What the hell?

AboveAverage said...

Why is Donaldson still on the basepaths?

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Sadly, this just validates Boone-intern.

I like Carpenter. it's not his fault. but JESUS, no!

AboveAverage said...

I smell fertilizer

AboveAverage said...

RIZZO :(

13bit said...

You could have Cy Young pitching - we don't, by the way - but you still need to get some hits in order to win.

AboveAverage said...

Think Judge is due? Feel free to answer

AboveAverage said...

If you have a rash or other unsightly side effects - please stop watching Yankees baseball

AboveAverage said...

Glad Donaldson held up on that one and didn’t attempt to score. Thank god for his base running acumen

13bit said...

Hal is at the stadium, right? Hal gives a shit, right? Hal really cares, right?

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Mr. bit, spot on as usual.

Now to bed. Not worth watching any further.

I will listen to the Master tomorrow, just to hear if he bids farewell.

AboveAverage said...

Actually my glasses are always 70% full

Publius said...

They'll get no hit tomorrow

AboveAverage said...

I have faith that Nestor will pitch a gem tomorrow

Rufus T. Firefly said...

AA, Mrs. Teasdale is quite good at that.

Celerino Sanchez said...

Cashman wrote the stories for Onley & Sherman weeks ago. Injuries derailed this offense. But on the bright side all these losers are back next year and lose in the WC games.

AboveAverage said...

And Nasty deserves to as German now has back to back walks

13bit said...

I mean, if I didn't know any better, I'd almost think they were one-hitting us or something. THAT would be unthinkable, though, right? Didn't Michael Kay or some other Gammonite just say that they were "built for the post-season"?

THIS IS BRIAN'S TEAM.

HAL LETS HIM STAY.

GEORGE NEGLECTED HAL.

HAL HATES THE YANKEES.

BY EXTENSION, THEN, HAL HATES US.

MEMORAIZE THAT QUADRATIC EQUATION, KIDDIES.

FUCK HAL, FUCK CASHMAN, FUCK BOONIE AND BLITZEN...

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Tomorrow will be a wake.

AboveAverage said...

Rufus - good to hear! I start making our west coast, homemade pizza dinner after the game

13bit said...

THE WHOLE TEAM SHOULD DROP ACID BEFORE THE TAME TOMORROW. What have they got to lose?

Gary Frenay said...

You mean this ISN'T a wake?!

13bit said...

you found a flower in the middle of the garbage dump, AA...

13bit said...

good point, Bosch, good point.

maybe they should just get a good glue bag going on the bench

AboveAverage said...

It’s what I do - bagel dozen Bit!

AboveAverage said...

Or Baker’s dozen Bit

TheWinWarblist said...

It almost seems like These Our 2022 Second Half New York Yankees have a deep flaw in their overall approach?

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Fork time.

Publius said...

Cash's deadline Bader/Monty trade was horrifying. Among its effects was that Judge had to play CF for a few months. But then the boot came off, and Bader played well. The defense was there, and he hit. Cash redeemed. Until today. Judge played well in CF, obviously gained confidence, and ranged like a CF to get Vasquez's (of course it was former Red Sock Yankee killer back up catcher Vasquez) lazy flyball. He got in Bader's way, and Bader the great defensive CF who Cash traded a capable left handed pitcher for precisely because he wanted great D in CF, dropped the ball. This effectively ended the Yankees season. Tragedy? Irony? I don't know. But I do know the Ju Ju Gods enjoy making a fool of Brian Cashman.

Gary Frenay said...

Yanks have never - NEVER - had just one hit in a playoff game. Seriously?! OMFG!! This is historically pathetic!!

AboveAverage said...

Carpenter again

TheWinWarblist said...

10 strikeouts, 2 hits.

AboveAverage said...

Two Hitter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gary Frenay said...

Rufus T. Firefly said...

anyone thinks they'll score 5 with 2 out?

AboveAverage said...

Not me

13bit said...

Yay! Donaldson to the rescue!!!

This is where the tide turns!

That iceberg? No problem, this old Titanic has power brakes...

TheWinWarblist said...

Fuck.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

thanks HAL!

wait, I meant FUCK YOU!

hasta la season motherfuckers.

13bit said...

And so it goes, indeed

I can't believe Donaldson struck out. NEVER would have seen THAT one coming.

But I know that Hal will be in the locker room to cheer them on.

Hal cares. Hal really really really cares.

13bit said...

to recall a chant from my childhood days in Yonkers...

BUNGALOW BAR TASTES LIKE TAR,

why do I keep coming back for more?

Publius said...

No Yankee has ever deserved boos more than Josh Donaldson deserves boos.

mik said...

The really sad part is by next season nothing really will change. Oh, maybe a few things on the surface but the core of the problems will remain. We will all get excited, get sucked in, get our hopes up, and dream the dream but will inevitably be let down again. Rinse, repeat.

AboveAverage said...

Free Pizza at my place

Publius said...

There will be a big change next year. Very big. Aaron Judge will not be a Yankee.

AboveAverage said...

Thanks AB

Publius said...

Judge telling Hal "it's me or Cashman", and Hal picking Judge, is this franchise's only hope.

Oasisdave said...

How does the saying go? Bad association spoils useful habits. It was only a matter of time till he looked as lost at the plate as the other fools on this team of trash

AboveAverage said...

Yes AB

Doug K. said...

They're going have to name Jeter GM.

That's the only move that will make us happy.

He will fire Boone. (and hire Mattingly) He will cut Donaldson, find someone to take Stanton, trade gleyber, and all the other shit moves that have to be made to clear the decks.

They need to restore fire and pride.

Mildred Lopez said...

Watching my Chipmunks now. It might well be over. Being a rookie here, what do you folks do in the off season?

Publius said...

Bitch about Cashman

Mildred Lopez said...

AA...I like that free pizza offer. You folks want to come out to my place in Where The Fuck Are We I will entertain you all with a bonfire and some smoked meats. Also music.

Mildred Lopez said...

Just let me know.

Joe of AZ said...

Cashman's teams are built to last from April to June

Joe of AZ said...

Somewhere Gary Sanchez is eating ice cream and laughing at this catastrophe

13bit said...

Mildred, we keep assembling here, thinking out loud, dreaming, dying, ruminating, conjuring. And waiting. Lots of waiting. So we get to talking to each other and look towards Spring.

But let us enjoy tomorrow's game first...

BernBabyBern said...

I had to miss the game today .... thank God.

Remember how this team looked in May? Doesn't that seem like years and years ago?

BTR999 said...

Mildred, we have a whole winter to dissect, to analyze, to speak truth to power.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Same bad taste. Fewer postsesason wins!

AboveAverage said...

AB - I can overnight a veggie slice to you.

And - before I forget- remember:

LOSE GAMES HARD!

BTR999 said...

Not much else to say is there?

May our suffering be short tomorrow!

AboveAverage said...

I want to see Nestor go seven tomorrow - one hit nastiness - to cap off his season

AboveAverage said...

Nestor deserves a strong outing and a win

AboveAverage said...

Deal AB - just need to know where over here is when the time comes :)

GO NASTY!

HoraceClarke66 said...

That is true sacrifice, Anon Bosch! Thanks for tuning in. And thanks all for tuning in to this delightful season.

The end will be a relief!

DickAllen said...

No need to listen for the Fat Lady to sing. Though I think I can hear Don Meredith in the background.

JM said...

Take me out to the bowel game.

The Archangel said...

Perhaps, in a true poetic sense, the best thing to hope for tonight is Nestor to go 7 SO innings and then we lose 1-0.

Then if there is a Divine Being, Hal will fire BaBoone for his inability to manage a MLB team, fire Cashman because he has taken on that peculiar fragrance of eggs left on the porch in August for 2 weeks and then he will sell the team and devote his life to his true passion-soccer.
Maybe a new buyer will let him maintain a minor % of the YES Network as enticement.

Judge will be interesting this off-season, esp. with him have such a poor playoffs. What is he worth? and for how many years?

And, all winter long it will be who's on Second, who's at SS.
Cue Abbott and Costello

Parson Tom said...

what a miserable ending to an otherwise fun season.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Unfortunately, the season was over at the trade deadline. Thanks to the ca$hole intern.
