It had already been decided? I’m sure…

He did it!! 62!!

Sterling and Kay both said "Case closed". I smell the marketing department.

JUDGE DID IT.

Whew

The Colace record somehow feels less satisfying.

And then our acehole is going to blow it

Jeff Nelson has been sitting in with The Master. I'm surprised, but Nelson isn't awful.

Six more and Cole sets 2022 record! He could do it today!

Judge is taken out of the game by Boone and not even double switched with Cole.

Grrrrr

How was Ricky's call?

BTR999 said...

Huge congrats to #99, he did it the old fashioned way: that’s right he earrrrned it! I wish I could thank him in person for all the thrills this year. Hope all of you good people enjoyed as much as I did!

Woooh!

Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside, thank you for the link. I got to the game late. The Master still has a great voice even if he's starting to look like a decrepit old curmudgeon.

But then again, quite a few of us in the Commentariat are well on our ways to a decrepit old curmudgeonhood.

ALL RISE YOU FUCKERS!!!!

Young OzzieO has 14 XBH. And a better than league average OPS+. He's been a refreshing call up.

Sorry Publis, Ricardo is off for Yom Kippur. It was some squawky bitch that I swear really couldn’t speak Spanish. She said something like “ ¡Oh, Dios mĆo, misericordioso! De todas las cosas dramĆ”ticas, de todas las cosas dramĆ”ticas que he visto”

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Ricardo is Jewish ??!?!? Is he related to Geraldo?

JM said...

Colace coughs up the lead. Again.

JM said...

Fuck him and his strikeouts. If only he could shut a team down for more than four innings, that would be nice.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

At least Colace set the *american league* record for home runs allowed this year.

Some how the Yankees 'ace' looks like a 4th starter.

DickAllen said...

Exactly JM.

And it’s not like he’s pitching against an all-world tonight.

He may have the Yankees single-season K record, but he’s leading the AL in home runs. He’s given up more fingers than the Glassman has hit this year.

DickAllen said...

*Dingers, not fingers.

I’ve only got two of them for Cole

Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside said...

33.
Thirty three.
THIRTY THREE
THIRTY FUCKING THREE

Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside said...

Or is it 34. Whatever. Ridiculous.

JM said...

He sucks.

DickAllen said...

Cole is the king of the 6-inning Maddox

DickAllen said...

If Barry Bonds is the “legitimate” single-season home run leader, why is he not in the Hall of Fame?

BTR999 said...

‘Cause his head wouldn’t fit through the door

In the midst of our celebration (my wife actually surprised me by cracking some champagne; in honor of our esteemed owner, it was cheap champagne) I had to look at Trevino’s line the last 2 months: .183, 4 BB 6 rbi. He’s Higashioka w/o the power, an affable version of Joey Gallo. Does not bode well for the post, where he will join the conga line of our other none hitters. It’s been an up and down season, but all things considered a memorable one. The post season now beckons like a leering demon, ready to lure us into the dirty depths of despair.

But right now? More champagne!

Kevin said...

Trevino has caught a lot of games this season. Maybe the rest......?

HoraceClarke66 said...

Thanks for the link, Beauregard, and thanks to all of you for celebrating this the way it should be. And pretty hilarious on Bonds, BTR!

Meanwhile, did everybody hear the end of Michael Kay's call? "...case closed!"

CASE CLOSED! The same name as Posner's book on the Kennedy assassination! I ask you again:

MORE THAN COINCIDENCE??????!!!!!!

HoraceClarke66 said...

Also, never thought I would write these words in my life, BUT:

Texas was total class.

A packed house, a crowd that gave him a good hand, and A TEAM WITH THE BALLS TO PITCH TO HIM!

Kudos to Manager Tony Beasley, and starter Jesus Tinoco.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Cole's "record" is absurd. He set it mainly because the Yankees have always had starters who knew how to pitch to contact.

Mr. Cole is a great example of the opposite, leading the league in dingers, and struggling to a 13-8 record with the team that led the AL in runs scored.

Rickie’s HR call can be heard on mlb at bat archived game starting at 4 minutes and 50 seconds in. I have no idea what he’s saying but he’s very excited. Sounds like some guy in Newark whose car won’t start.

BTR999 said...

LOL Hoss, it still haunts us even on IIHIIFIIC! Actually, that barking mutt Kay is always dogging me online, now he raids my post for his “epic” 62nd HR call. Oh, the humanity!

james said...

Huge congrats to #99, he did it the old fashioned way: Now its time to avail dry van dispatch services for more details.

Kevin said...

Congrats to #99! Many, most, of us will ever see a season like that again. And what a true sportsman Judge is, especially in this day and age. So refreshing!

Absolutely a tip of the hat to the Texas fans, and management is warranted.

Announcers making themselves part of the event is, IMO, classless. Genuine, spontaneous emotion is fine, even laudable. But the endless "listen to me" calls is a drag.

Has Stanton begun one of his ass-tears, and has Severino? If so, ANYTHING can happen moving forward. And will Boone be allowed to manage, and is he actually capable? I'd love to see Judge pull-off a Ted Williams on the last day of the season? Fuck Ohtani.
