Looks like one of those tiny helmets the Ground Round would serve ice cream in. They also had pay what you weigh, which bankrupted the Ortiz family.
Big Papi couldn't have worn that helmet while still playing because the circumference of his melon was still rather Bonds-like.
Thankfully he shrunk down a bit from BIGGEST Papi to just plain Big.
