A Couple Of Thoughts...

1) Sometimes The Jokes Just Write Themselves

Boone on Florial “He’s got loads of talent,” manager Aaron Boone said. “Tonight he was really good. … Hopefully he can continue to give us that shot in the arm.”

You know what else would have given the Yankees, "A Shot In The Arm"?

2)  Trader Schmo

Mr. Duque recommends that we stand pat and there is a lot of wisdom to the argument. I'm more of a damned if we do, damned if we don't type guy. Especially with Trader Schmo calling the shots.

That said, we have to watch this collection of chuckleheads for the rest of the year. (And let's face it, for the rest of our lives) so I say trade away... with one caveat.

Only players that are already on the 26 man roster and the IL. That way we don't hurt the future and we give ourselves new people to eventually hate. Plus, the guys who just came up get to stay.

We also get to keep the current crop of future disappointments.

Mr. Duque feels we don't have cards to play. I'm thinking it's about packaging. For example a team that's out of it and looking to next year, such as KC  might be interested in...

The Mashers From M*A*S*H

We take Clint "Fastest Swing in the West" Frazier (Who sadly plays in the East), Aaron "He's Under Par" Hicks, and Luke "The Body" Voit  and put them all in a package for one good uh... anything.  The team we trade to gets THREE bonified major leaguers. (Eventually).

It's quite a package...  A Gold Glove nominee (Like I said above, sometimes the jokes write themselves.) the reigning Home Run Champ and, an on-base machine!

We get a player worth watching right now.

Bullpen-A-Lose-A

Chapman has a history of failing in big games. But what if he was traded to a team that doesn't play in big games? All we need back is a good pitcher who can handle the 5th and 6th. (Because our starters only go 4-5).  They get a top closer we get a pitcher to bridge to Greene. It's a win-win. Toss in some money to pay half of Chappy's salary and get a top 10 Minor Leaguer from their organization.

A top closer AND money? Who wouldn't go for that?

I can hardly wait for Judge, Voit, etc to come back, so we can send these young guys back to AAA. The nerve of these kids stealing bases and doing the little things to win. We might make the playoffs. Don't they know that's not the way things are done in The BRONX.

I understand the analysis, But Judge does things correctly. Hits, hits for power. Great arm, great range and throws to the correct base. And think how much better he can be with some bats around him and if MLB umps take into account how tall he is when they call"low" strikes.
Naw he is a good one. He could have been a true Yankee in any of our dynasties.

Looking around for trade targets... I found a middle infielder who can fill in for Urshela and then replace Wade as our utility infielder. He's still young (25), has 4+ years of cheap team control, has a minor-league option remaining, and can play 2B, SS, 3B, and OF! He's perfect for us and is having a monster year.

He hit .385/.448/.609 (1.057 OPS) in 37 games in AAA before getting called up.
He's hitting .342/.419/.553 (.971 OPS) in 17 games in the majors.

It might take quite a prospect haul to get him though, since he plays for a contender and they might not want to give him up. But I'm confident Brian Cashman can find a way to get this guy.

The player's name is Thairo Estrada.

I am so angry, mostly at Cashman. That Colossal Prick Hal doesn't give a fuck about the franchise, except as his on personal ATM, the soulless fucker. But he at least gives Cashman up to the salary cap money to play with. How can you not field a competitive team with over 200 million to work with? Cashman can do it because he is a lazy stupid fucker who also doesn't give a fuck about the franchise. I cared more about my Strat-O-Matic teams than those fuckers care about the Yankees.

Fuck everybody, each and every one. I love you all.

i don't understand why brian aka "the intern" cashman gets so much grief on this blog. he's doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing: supporting the product.

he's the office boy made good. the "how to succeed in business without really trying" toady to a corporation that, first and foremost, valuesprofit, improving shareholder value and all those other wonderful capitalist, economic-rapist sayings that get tossed about in america today. greed is good, remember?

and the yankees are greedy. make no mistake. people think with the yankees tradition - a trait that costs nothing - talk about a great roi - that is continually ensures the harkening to nostalgia we all crave, both long and short term in history's memory bank. we are all truly suckers.

no, my friends. the yankees are not in the business of winning. let's get that straight - what the yankees are doing is giving the appearance of winning. a 200+ million payroll is the talisman harold holds up to prove he's all about winning. and that payroll is what's known in mba circles as the "cost of doing business." a double winner for him because it's all deductible expense. harold is the steward to a valuable company and he needs the office boy to maintain that stodgy, grim-faced, set-jaw appearance of someone who actually gives a shit.

years ago we had gene michael step in when george got busted and that was a guy who wanted to win. truly wanted to win, whereas these guys all want to maintain the appearance of wanting to win. so we are stuck in perpetuity to rooting for a corporation that applauds a business-as-usual, don't-rock-the-boat mentality. the "good sound bite" persona that says nothing at all.

as jerry seinfeld said once upon a time, "we are rooting for laundry." and as long as harold, the office boy and boooooone are running the mailroom, that's what we'll keep getting.

AND LASTLY, THIS SHOUT-OUT TO ALL CAPS: I KNOW YOU'RE OUT THERE LURKING. AND I DON'T CARE THAT YOU DIDN'T LIKE THAT MANY HERE OPPOSED YOUR PARTICULAR POLITICAL POINT OF VIEW. COME BACK, PLEASE. WE NEED YOU. YOU ARE A YANKEES FAN FIRST AND FOREMOST AND NOBODY GIVES A FUCK ABOUT YOUR POLITICS. SO GET OVER YOURSELF, GROW A PAIR OF BALLS, STOP WIMPERING AND MAKE YOURSELF KNOWN TO US AGAIN. TIME TO MAN UP.

until you do, i am all lower case. sort of like putting the flag at half mast.

Hilarious, Doug K!

And Dick Allen, you nailed it!

Actually, BOTH George's suspensions were the best things that ever happened to him. The first time, Gabe Paul, a real baseball man, got to run the team and put together a winner. The second, it was Stick (plus Buck and Bob). The ONLY times George ever won.

This was some amazing good luck for a family that has always been swimming in it. I mean, the Steinbrenners got their original business when a freak storm on Lake Erie sunk a ship and drowned the rest of the family the pater familias had married into (I'm not making this up!)

And I miss ALL-CAPS, too! We need you!

Dammit, I KNEW they should never have traded Thairo! And it's NOT just because I still have a Bronx warehouse with 10,000, "Thairo the Pharaoh" headdresses inside it.

Seriously, I always liked that guy, and what did he ever do wrong?

But hey, I know: they got cash for him.

That's right. Cash. You know the Yankees don't have enough of that. I hear it currently serves as toilet paper in the executive suites.

But you know, in general...

I look around at the rest of the baseball and I worry/wonder.

No, I don't think the Yanks can possibly contend this year. But then you see how weak practically every other team is and it gets you thinking. If that one extended hot streak ever DOES come along...

I know, I know. That stray thought is just more of the juju deities playing with us.

But still...

We have to get the players off the EL ASAP. We're going to lose any chance of winning the Triple-A East championship if we have most of SWB here in NY.

You're flattering yourself to call these thoughts. The old dumb-fan idea that if you pile up enough of our garbage in one pile, some other sucker will be stupid enough to give you something of value in return.
